Gordon Ramsay heads to a cafe in Saugerties, NY where he meets a couple being destroyed in every facet of their life by the restaurant and take it out on each other.
Episode Tropes:
- Jerkass Has a Point: Chris spends the first half of the episode verbally abusing those around him, but some of what he said had validity:
- He points out that you're not supposed to bring in all the tickets at once, as it overwhelms the kitchen
- He is asked to serve a vegan pancake, but that's not on the menu so they got the customer's hopes up for nothing.
- Kick the Dog:
- Chris's behavior towards Tess runs on this, especially since she's dealing with several health issues.
- As horrible as Chris treated Tess, it's abundantly clear that the restaurant is destroying his mental health. Gordon tells him the worst thing you can tell a guy who is dealing with mental health issues: "Man up"
- Skilled, but Naive: Chris is actually talented at running a restaurant as he was a restaurant manager prior to owning one and Ramsay admits he's had worse and some of what he makes is actually good. It's just he's completely incapable of working with so much stress.
