Recap / Kirby Right Back At Ya S 1 E 25 Escargoon Rules

Go To

  • Everyone Has Standards: The people of Dreamland decide to play along with Escargoon pretending to be the king just for his mother's sake. Presumably, the reason is that they think it's unfair to punish an elderly woman they've never met before simply because of the grief their son has caused them. Considering she turns out to be a nice old lady, they made the right call.
  • It's All About Me: Dedede has already shown to have a big ego, but this episode shows how petty it is when it shows that he can't stand the idea of someone else being the rule of Dreamland, even after he's told it's only a temporary masquerade. Tuff even lampshades that he's go ballistic if he learned that Escargoon lied to just one person about being king.
  • Kid Has a Point: Tuff notes that trying to set up a facade of Escargoon being king is only going to worsen the situation, especially if Dedede finds out.
  • Tempting Fate: Curio decides there's no harm in pretending Escargoon is the king. For the most part, he's right. He just never expected for Dedede to stumble upon it.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Dedede decides to tell Escargoon's mother that the king usually orders monsters to terrorize Cappy Town, much to her horror. This prompts Escargoon to admit he isn't king of Dreamland. This actually backfires on Dedede because he didn't account that Escargoon's mother still loves her son, despite not being the person he claimed to be. She even believes her son would make a better king than Dedede himself.
