Kipo and the gang embark on a risky mission to Cappuccino’s Mute brunch spot and reconnect with an old frenemy. But will they all end up on the menu?

Tropes:

  • Backing Away Slowly: Dave's response to Kipo awkwardly explaining her My Instincts Are Showing moment is to slowly back away from her and get close to Benson with his chair.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Cappuccino makes it very clear that she hates humans. But, when Kipo (who she tried to kill) goes out of her way to save Brunchington Beach, she willingly gives them directions to the old Science Burrow, and a free meal for her whole group.
  • Category Traitor: As explained in Puck’s song, Mandu and Dave are seen as mute traitors who helped Kipo, Benson, and Wolf attack the “defenseless” Newton Wolves.
  • Cheap Costume: The costumes the TheaOtters made to represent Kipo’s group are....not very flattering to say the least. Not only are they inaccurate to the group they are portraying, but they are crudely stitched together and quite tacky in terms of their design. The costumes for the Newton Wolves aren’t much better as they have traffic cones used for the wolves’ noses.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Dave's plan to get information from Cappuccino almost didn't work since he had forgotten a) the third rule was no humans and b) he never paid his bill last time he was here.
  • Dinner Theatre: The TheaOtters perform a one-act show for the crowd at Brunchington Beach.
  • Eaten Alive: One of Cappuccino’s waiters is eaten alive by the Mega Flamingo ridden by Gerard.
  • Fed to the Beast: Cappuccino keeps a pet Mega Mute leech called Harriet, which she feeds humans to. Kipo and Wolf are nearly eaten when the former is thrown into the water by Gerard and the latter tries to catch her, but Kipo gives Harriet severe-enough indigestion to cause it to spit them back out.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: Kipo, Wolf, and Benson dress up in the crappy costumes that are representing themselves so they can slip into the restaurant without being singled out. Mandu even plays herself, but does not even wear a costume and instead just has a prop covering up her nose.
  • Hand Signals: At the start of the episode, Wolf tries to use hand signals to silently move the group through the area. Kipo can’t understand the hand signals though, which makes Wolf stop using them.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Kipo, in her half-jaguar state, comes really close to killing Gerard until Wolf distracts her. When asked what happened, Kipo says she doesn't know but that it wasn't her.
  • "The Hero Sucks" Song: "Down With The Humansis overall a fun rocking minstrel song, but it misrepresents the events of The Astronomers in Turtlenecks, making Kipo and the group sound like villainous humans. Kipo is very displeased by this.
  • Jabba Table Manners: When they receive brunch for saving the day, a half-shapeshifted Kipo literally devours her food like a savage animal, much to everyone's concern. Justified as at the beginning of the episode she laments how hungry she is.
  • Knowledge Broker: Cappuccino functions as this by virtue of her restaurant's food being paid for with information, which is then offered up for further trade.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: During the fight with Scarlemagne's envoys, Kipo starts to lose control of her Jaguar side, beating them viciously, roaring as she fights, having to be stopped from slashing Gerard with her claws, and snarling at them as they flee. Later, after she receives food for saving the day, her hunger makes her shapeshift again and literally wolfs food down, much to everyone's concern.
Kipo: [awkwardly] Hey, guys...(laughs) Have you ever had that feeling when you think you're in control, but then you're not, because a FEROCIOUS JAGUAR'S IN CONTROL AND ITS NEED TO HUNT IS INSATIABLE? [deep breath]
  • Oh, Crap!: Gerard looks rather worried when Kipo is about to slash his face with her claws.
  • Rule of Three: Cappuccino has this for her brunch restaurant. 1) Always pay your bill. 2) bill is paid via information, 3) No Humans!
  • Save the Villain:
    • Kipo insists on saving Cappuccino from Scarlemagne's goons, which earns the shrimp's gratitude.
    • Wolf saves Gerard when Kipo is about to slash him with her claws, snapping her out of her berserk state long enough for Gerard to toss her away.
  • Speak in Unison: When Kipo sees the otters in suits of her and her friends, they all respond to her presence by saying "The real Kipo.”
  • Work Off the Debt: Cappuccino has customers who don't pay their bill wash the dishes, as Dave and Jamack discovered.
