Go To

The American Tour Arc is the second major story arc in Kinnikuman. It's chapter length is 52-79 in the manga and episodes 19-26 in the anime.

Summary

Having won the Choujin Olympics, Kinnikuman is sent on tour to challenge champions all over the world. At his first stop in Hawaii, he trains under the veteran Choujin Prince Kamehame. When he reaches North America, Kinnikuman finds himself pulled into a fierce feud between the World Supermen Association, World Supermen Council, and World Supermen Federation. But even more shocking are the familiar faces that show up in America...

Tropes

  • Adapted Out: The anime changed almost everything about this arc. Only the stop in Hawaii and rematch against Robin Mask were more or less preserved. The Tag Tournament was excluded completely.
  • Artificial Limbs: Because he had to have his leg amputated due to Kinkotsuman's gunshot, Terryman has a fake leg attached.
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: Kinnikuman gets formal wrestling training from Prince Kamehame.
  • Charlie Brown from Outta Town: Kinnikuman poses as an African Choujin called "Chanelman" when he attacks the WSC champs. Notably, neither the Council or Federation is fooled, but Skull Bozu plays along to lure Kin into a trap.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: When Ramenman refs Kin/Terry's match against Skull Bozu and Devil Magician, he strips Devil of his knives and sharp cards. It's acknowledged that even a brutal Choujin like Ramenman won't have weapons in the ring!
  • He's Back!: Terryman, who was shot in the leg in the last arc, returns to the ring.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Kinnikuman beats Jesse Mavia by goading him into attacking first. Jesse is such a master of Move Reversion that he doesn't know how to attack on his own, and that's how Kin beats him.
  • Keep the Reward: After beating Jesse Mavia, Kinnikuman gives the Hawaiian Belt back to Prince Kamehame. He also gives back the prize money for the match, which means he and Meat have to swim to America on their own.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: The Most Evil Combination in the Universe give the Emperors a hellish beatdown, using sharp weapons and setting them on fire. Even Edith Harrison forfeiting doesn't stop them.
  • Tournament Arc: A tag tournament between fighters of the four factions (WSA, WSC, WSF, and Kaiju) is held to decide who will control the Choujin World of the US. Notably, the match-ups are done round robin style, with the winner being whoever scored the most points.
