Peggy takes over the lease of a bookstore, but when the bookstore's business plummets, she allows Dale and his gun group to sell firearms at the store.

Tropes:

  • Everyone Has Standards: When Hank goes to visit Peggy at the store after she was kicked out of the book club, he hears gunfire coming from the basement, and when he goes to investigate, he finds Dale, his gun club buddies, and Cotton blasting books with their guns. Hank tells Peggy that he may not be a fan of William Shakespeare, but even he thinks that using his works as target practice is wrong.
  • Jock Dad, Nerd Son: When Hank takes Bobby to the bookstore he recommends that he buy a book about a boy who has adventures while living as a rugged outdoors man. Bobby finds a couple of titles that Hank may approve of but puts them back when he finds a Sword and Sorcery novel, Hank orders him to put it back, but Bobby ends up taking it home anyway. Naturally, when Hank finds Bobby reading it, he orders him to stop reading it.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: The bookstore folds, but Peggy gets to form an actual book club at the end with some customers who were interested in actually reading the books. The episode ends with a spirited discussion about the same book Peggy had at the beginning of the episode.
  • Upper-Class Twit: After failing to generate sales during her first days owning the bookstore, Peggy learns that it was never actually a profitable business. The previous owner paid all the business expenses with the trust she received from her rich parents and was only concerned with invoked Doing It for the Art.
