Recap / Kim Possible S 2 E 21 The Full Monkey

Go To

During a fight with Monkey Fist, Kim gets zapped by a mystical amulet, which begins to turn her into a monkey. The sitch escalates when Kim is separated from Ron and one of Monkey Fist's monkey ninjas takes her place.

Did we mention it's also class picture day?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Argument of Contradictions: Ron and Wade spend about a full minute yelling at one another about whether Wade "can not" or "can too" fight monkey magic with science. (Wade eventually wins with the "infinity clause".)
  • Closest Thing We Got: Monkey Fist stays in the Middleton Hotel's spa/gymnasium instead of a conventional room, because it is the closest thing available to a "dojo".
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: Kim's past photo lineup has included her with braces and her with a visible booger, and she is determined to change things.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: At the end of the episode, Monkey Fist is arrested for the crime of "impersonating a school mascot."
  • Flipping the Bird: Invoked.
Barkin: Let's move it, people, time for student photos! Stoppable, none of your punk hand gestures this time.
Ron: What? It was a thumbs-up!
  • Forced Transformation: Anyone who gets zapped by the amulet turns into a monkey.
  • From Bad to Worse: When Wade explains to our heroes that the monkey amulet turns the subject into the Monkey King, Ron reasons that while he's not fond of the "Monkey" part, the "King" part might not be so bad. ...Before Wade points out the amulet's magic makes the subject more "Monkey" than "King".
  • I Ate WHAT?!: Ron and Rufus find a bag of chips that belonged to the Professor Akari and began eagerly eating them... at least, until Akari tells them the chips were made from crickets.
Kim: Ron, maybe you should look before you eat.
Ron: Crunchy and spicy has never betrayed me like this before...
  • Heel–Face Turn: Chimpy winds up briefly holding off his former master because he likes Ron after having spent the afternoon with him.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Kim does manage to use her new tail to grab the keychain when she can't reach with her hands, but she's not quite used to it and accidentally drops them, alerting the ninja guard to her escape attempt.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Kim's initial transformation is hairy hands, a tail, and ears.
  • Mistaken for Transformed: After Kim is captured by Monkey Fist, one of his monkeys named Chippy puts on an outfit of hers and is found by Ron who thinks Kim had completely turned.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The bodybuilder who interrupts Monkey Fist's interrogation of Kim in the hotel gym speaks with a pronounced Germanic accent.
  • Noodle Incident: Two involving Ron.
    • Apparently, during one intense game when Ron couldn't leave the court, he experienced Potty Failure.
    • According to Barkin, Ron made what looked like a punk hand gesture in previous year photo. Ron claims it was a thumbs up, but Barkin advises him to sit on his hands to be on the safe side.
  • Picture Day: The transformation does not help Kim's effort to get a good picture...and neither does Ron mistaking a monkey for her.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Kim's mom does the "puppy-dog pout" — sad eyes and put-out lip — when Kim rejects the dress her grandmother made her.
  • Pun-Based Title: On "the full monty" (i.e. nudity).
  • Tempting Fate:
    • On being told that she has only a few minutes left before her transformation is permanent, Kim clutches her head and moans, "can this get any worse?!" Cue Ron looking over her shoulder and seeing Monkey Fist lunging at her.
    • At the end, Kim is relieved that she avoided a picture day disaster and thankful that she was far away from any camera during her transformation. Unfortunately, Ron substituted Chippy for her, having believed that she had fully transformed.
  • Title Drop: When Ron sees one of the monkey ninjas wearing Kim's "Nana dress", he exclaims, "She's gone the full monkey!"
  • Twisted-Knee Collapse: Combined with Skyward Scream. Ron collapses, yelling, "Curse you, monkeys!" when he hears they're going up against Monkey Fist again.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight:
    • The guy who interrupts Monkey Fist's gloating to the strapped down monkey!Kim doesn't bat an eyelash. Even when Kim talks, knocks down Monkey Fist with a barbell, and runs away, he only says, "I had a dog run away from me once. It still hurts."
    • Kim transforming back into a human in the middle of the gym barely elicits a reaction besides the announcer saying that she K-O'ed Monkey Fist, who along with monkey Kim had been mistaken for the Lowerton mascots. The cheer squad captain seemingly knocking out the opposing team's mascot in full view of the crowd and judges itself garners very little attention.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never do find out what happened to Chippy at the end of the episode.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Upon reuniting with Ron, Kim sarcastically thanked him for noticing she was gone. Ron tries to explain he had thought Chippy was her, to which retorts there was no way she'd be seen in the dress the monkey was wearing.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Under the impression that Chippy (whilst wearing her dress) is Kim fully turned into a monkey, Ron initially dreads the idea of having a primate for a friend. But ultimately, he decides that his friendship with Kim is more important than his fear of monkeys and hangs out with "her" for moral support. Gradually, he becomes more and more acclimated to hanging out with a monkey. Even after he learns "Kim" is a natural-born monkey, Ron only freaks out for a moment before he remembers all the good times he spent with Chippy, realizing he overcame his fear on his own terms.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Ron hates monkeys and is horrified when he thinks Kim has fully transformed. He even yells, "Why does it always have to be monkeys?!" early in the episode.
