Barry catches a fever due to eating cold honey outside, so Pin and Olga visit him. However, Barry refuses to stay indoors due to him having to tend his beehives. Pin promises to come up with something to help Barry do his chores, and invents a robot named Smarty-Pants 1.0 that does work for Barry. However, he also needs to dig his garden, but Pin programs Smarty-Pants to do that as well. Barry is left completely out of work, because Smarty-Pants does things for him. Pin later comes to program Smarty-Pants to do basically any manual work Barry wants to, so the robot follows Barry around in search of work.
Pin later takes Smarty-Pants for some more improvements to bring it back later, but Barry insists he's fine. With the robot temporarily gone, Barry hurriedly does all the work he wanted, just as Pin comes back. Now Smarty-Pants can do Barry's chores a mere second after he thinks of doing them.
Later on a rainy day, Olga informs Pin that Barry is sick again. He still wants to do chores despite being ill, but is unable to due to Smarty-Pants always doing stuff better than him, and now considers the robot his replacement. Pin realizes the damage his creation has done to Barry and decides to destroy it, but Barry intervenes. Smarty-Pants joins the conflict too, because he does whatever Barry's thinking of. Realizing that, he orders Smarty-Pants to dismantle himself, and all is resolved, with the robot being repurposed as a honey heater.
