Carlin is looking for something with a magnifying glass. Olga runs past him, and he asks if she has seen the key. Olga ignores him and continues running. Carlin stumbles across Krash, Chiko, and Rosa playing ball. He explains them that he has lost the key to the wooden box, which contains his personal diary. Krash takes an interest in the box and pretends reading through the keyhole that "Chiko looks at his tongue in the mirror for hours." Chiko is surprised, because nothing can be seen through the keyhole. Krash explains that he saw Chiko doing that from the balcony. Chiko grabs his head and sits down collapse on the ground in shock.
Barry connects wires to the pipe in his garden. Rosa runs up, trying catching the ball. Barry covers his setup, claiming there's nothing interesting to see. When Rosa returns to Krash, she objects to what he said to Chiko, because this is his personal life, and brings up Krash hiding under the bed during a thunderstorm. Krash is horrified to learn that Rosa ran to him one day during a thunderstorm, and saw that he was shaking under the bed, and collapses next to Chiko.
Carlin still hasn't found the key, and asks Rosa about it. She suggests asking Barry for help, since he knows exactly how to open the lock. Barry opens it with a hairpin, but Olga comes in with a bucket of paint. She decided to paint Barry's pipe olive color. While Barry drives her away, she notices Carlin's box and drops the bucket in shock. She claims that the box belongs to her and she uses it to keep her personal letters! She snatches the box and runs away, scattering the sheets of Carlin’s diary. On one of the sheets, it is written that Barry seems to be waiting for an alien invasion and is secretly preparing an underground shelter. This piece of paper falls into Barry's hands, which forces him to hide inside his pipe, which turns out to be the entrance to the shelter.
Tropes:
- Bag of Holding: Carlin's box is rather small-looking, but it can fit a whole bunch of letters that would realistically not fit in.
- Hypocritical Humor: Rosa tells Krash (who just revealed Chiko that he knows his secret) that it is not necessary to reveal personal secrets, before accidentally revealing Krash's Fear of Thunder to his shock.
- Fear of Thunder: Krash's personal secret is that he is afraid of thunderstorms.
- They're Called "Personal Issues" for a Reason: The episode is based around this topic:
- Chiko tends to look at his tongue in the mirror for hours, and Krash has a Fear of Thunder. They do not want these to be revealed, but unfortunately for them, Krash and Rosa respectively already know about those secrets and the reveals put the two in shock.
- Carlin wrote some of the secrets his friends have in a small box, such as Barry building a shelter from aliens and unspecified secret Rosa had. When the two get to read Carlin's writing, Rosa's reaction is similar to those of Krash and Chiko, while Barry bemoans that it's impossible to hide anything.
- Secret Diary: Carlin has a small wooden box as diary, though instead of his own secrets he collects the dark secrets of his friends.
