When SpongeBob and Patrick don't want to clean up their cabin, Sandy renovates it into a self-cleaning smart cabin. But the new cabin quickly becomes obsessed with removing messes to the point it doesn't let anyone in.

- A Icronym: Sandy's smart cabin is named the Sentient Automated Lodge, or S.A.L. for short.
- Gone Horribly Right: S.A.L. is dedicated to keeping the entire cabin clean and removing any sources of messes. So when the campers have a Food Fight, it throws them all outside and doesn't let them back in.
- Jerkass Ball: Rather than taking responsibility and cleaning up their cabin, SpongeBob and Patrick try to shove it all in Sandy's dome to get rid of it. Not helping is that none of the mess is even her fault.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Squidward is right that the cabin is completely disgusting with how much trash SpongeBob and Patrick leave around, and it's understandable why he wants them to clean up.
- Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference to the Game Show Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?
- Questioning Title?
- Special Guest: Brian George provides the voice of S.A.L.
- Trash of the Titans: SpongeBob and Patrick leave their cabin absolutely covered in trash.

When all the adults get sick with food poisoning, a delirious Mr. Krabs appoints Squidward as the new camp master. Free from rules, the campers throw a riot... but quickly need Squidward's help to get everything back in order. "Deep Sea Despot" contains examples of:
- Be Careful What You Wish For: After their party gets out of control, the campers demand Squidward's leadership. He actually does a pretty good job at ordering them around and making things better. But the power gets to his head, and the next day, he's bossing everyone around to do egotistical and self-serving work for him.

- Drunk with Power: Squidward quickly lets the power of being appointed camp master go to his head, reserving special luxuries for himself and those who are "loyal" to him.
- Misplaced Retribution: The campers get so fed up with Squidward's rule that they prepare to launch him from a catapult. However, a suddenly-recovered Mr. Krabs runs in and demands that they let him off. Krabs takes the blame himself because every time he appoints a new counselor, it descends into chaos. However, Krabs does catapult Plankton away, since he cooked the food that gave them food poisoning in the first place.
- Never My Fault: Larry, Bubble Bass, and the other campers throw a party once they realize Squidward won't do anything to stop them. But once the party gets out of control, they demand his help to lead them again.Bubble Bass: Krabs put you in charge! Do something!

- Squidward uses his new two-story outhouse. A fish who was using the first level then comes out with visible poop on their head. The next one to go in brings an umbrella.
