Kouta and Mitsuzane attempt to warn the Beat Riders about Yggdrasill's manipulation, only to find that Yggdrasill is deploying Kurokage Troopers to silence anyone who knows the truth as Zangetsu uses a new belt model. Meanwhile, Mai encounters the mysterious girl who resembles her.
- Breaking the Fellowship: Jounouchi cuts off his alliance with Hase after the latter loses his ability to transform.
- Breather Episode: As the first episode of the new year, while there's still some action and rather dark developments, compared to the previous episodes, there's plenty of room to breathe and just feels more like an aftermath episode than anything else.
- Bystander Syndrome: Since using the Sengoku Drivers means providing data for Yggdrasill's experiments, Micchy chooses to merely watch on as innocent people get attacked by Inves.
- Commonality Connection: In addition to having lived in Zawame for a long time, and resenting Yggdrasill for the changes it brought to the town, Kaito and Mai also learn that they share a connection to a Shinto shrine that used to be there. Kaito would frequently play there as a child, and Mai's father was the shrine's priest, while she aspired to become a miko and perform traditional dances at the shrine. An Imagine Spot that may or may not have been a flashback suggests that a young Kaito used to watch a young Mai practicing, without either of them recognizing each other later in life.
- Et Tu, Brute?: After his encounter with Zangetsu in the previous episode, Hase's Sengoku Driver turns out to be permanently broken, leaving him unable to defend his team's stage from Team Baron. When he demands to know why his closest ally, Jounouchi, didn't step in to help him, Jounouchi reveals that he had been plotting to steal the stage himself, and that Baron simply beat him to it. The shock at the betrayal is written all over Hase's face.
- Wax On, Wax Off: Hideyasu seeks Oren's knowledge and experience, and is immediately put to work in the kitchen. It's established later on that Oren only did it to establish dominance over Beat Riders.
