Having finally escaped the dinosaur-infested island of Isla Nublar, the kids celebrate as they sail towards Costa Rica. However, there is trouble in paradise as Kenji is still angry with Darius and the campers discover an unexpected stowaway…
- Always a Bigger Fish: When Darius becomes caught in kelp and a shark is closing in on him, suddenly a gigantic shape appears on the radar, and the Mosasaurus shows up out of the blue to eat the shark.
- Bottle Episode: Almost the entire episode takes place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on Mitch and Tiffany’s Yacht.
- Commonality Connection: Brooklynn realizes that she and Kenji both consider the Camp Fam their first legitimate friend group - her family moved around a lot, Kenji was isolated by his family's wealth.
- Creepy Cave: The campers all walk into one after they end up on another island at the very end of the episode.
- Cruise Episode: The episode fulfills this trope. It is set almost entirely at sea on Mitch and Tiff’s yacht, which the kids used to escape Isla Nublar. The only prehistoric creatures seen in the episode are a stowaway Compsognathus and the Mosasaurus.
- Fighting the Lancer: Kenji is still furious with Darius for risking Brooklynn's life in the previous episode.
- Internal Reveal: Viewers who saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom already know that the Mosasaurus got out of the lagoon the previous day, but the campers had no idea until it shows up on the boat's sonar.
- Masochist's Meal: Ben actually seems to have gotten a taste for the grubs he found on the island; he offers a plateful to everyone while they're having lunch. Sammy is the only one who even attempts to try one, and even she can't go through with it.
- Oh, Crap!: The Campers pale when they learn that the Mosasaurus has escaped its lagoon and is hunting them.
- Sensor Suspense: Quite a bit of attention is paid to the boat's sonar after it's repaired, and much suspense comes from watching the shark approaching... and then the Mosasaurus coming after them.
- Shout-Out: The way the Mosasaurus tries to attack the campers mirrors exactly how the great white did in Jaws, a film directed by Steven Spielberg who also directed Jurassic Park. Earlier, when a shark appears on sonar, the iconic two-note Jaws theme plays several times. Yaz even references the film earlier in the episode, just so you get all the other hints.
- Status Quo Is God: The campers have finally made it off Isla Nublar. But they are still a long way from making it home.
- Threatening Shark: As mentioned in the Shout-Out above, a shark almost attacks Darius, but it gets swallowed by the Mosasaurus.
