Teenaged dinosaur fan Darius gets the opportunity to fulfil his lifelong dream of going to the world famous “Jurassic World” after winning a video game with the prize being an exclusive visit to the brand new “Camp Cretaceous” with six others campers Brooklyn, Ben, Sammy, Kenji, and Yaz.
- The Cameo Mr. DNA has a brief cameo in this episode, as a poster on Darius' door. He later appears to congratulate Darius for winning the game.
- Cat Scare: Darius (and the other campers) get jumped in the back of a truck during a tense scene… by a Compy, which is quickly grabbed and stuffed in a cat carrier by Roxie and Dave.
- Chekhov's Gun: During one of Darius’ failed runthroughs of the VR game, he notices raptor bones on the forest floor. It turns out using a raptor’s resonating chamber found among the bones is the key to finally beating the game.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Kenji and Darius getting charged by the entire raptor squad.
- Establishing Character Moment: For Darius, he is shown at a determined and knowledgeable when he finally clears the video game to win his trip to Jurassic World. In succession, we're introduced to the other campers via Ben's neurotic habits, Sammy's outgoing friendliness, Brooklynn's crowd-pleasing social persona, Kenji's alpha male prescence, and Yasmina's shyness.
- From Bad to Worse: First, Kenji and Brooklynn’s struggle over Brooklynn’s phone leads to it being dropped into a dinosaur paddock from a surveillance walkway. Then, Kenji climbs down to try to retrieve it from the observation walkway where it fell – only it turns out this is the raptor paddock. And the doors out are locked. Finally, Brooklynn’s attempt to unlock the door ends up instead opening the gate separating Kenji from the raptors within.
- Oh, Crap!: Twofold for Darius. First when his character gets munched by the t-rex and at the very end when he and Kenji are cornered by Blue's pack. Kenji himself has one upon realizing that a velociraptor is approaching and not a compy.
- Shout-Out: Darius discovers how to beat the game by using a raptor vocal chamber like Dr. Grant did in Jurassic Park III.
- Sneaking Out at Night: Darius, Kenji, and Brooklynn sneak out of the Camp Cretaceous treehouse after curfew to take a look at the Compy pen.
- Let's You and Him Fight: How Darius finally beats the game: he finds a Velociraptor resonating chamber among the raptor bones in the jungle, and uses it to summon the other raptors to attack the rex that was menacing him.
- Proscenium Reveal: The opening of the first episode has the viewer fleeing raptors and eventually being eaten by a T-rex in a dinosaur-filled jungle. Turns out it was the VR video game Darius was playing.
- Vomit Discretion Shot: Poor Ben got badly seasick on the boat ride to Isla Nublar, and he spends some time puking over the docks as the counselors introduce themselves. Later, he gets carsick on the ride to Camp Cretaceous.
