"River Riding Adventure, Part 1" is the 36th chapter of Junior Officers.
While exploring a river in a rainforest, the Octonauts come across an old friend.
Tropes:
- Big Storm Episode: Halfway through, a storm rolls in.
- Burger Fool: Sarabi mentions working a "crappy fast food job" before becoming an Octonaut.
- Cliffhanger: This chapter ends with Captain Barnacles pinned under a tree branch with a broken leg, unable to reach his crewmates.
- Surprisingly Normal Backstory: For all four that were discussed:
- Riviera was a lighthouse keeper, but left the lighthouse to her sister when she was recruited into the Octonauts.
- Peso was a lifeguard saving for college.
- Deborah took the job to go straight into the workforce after high school, in part to learn about sea creatures, and in part to spite her father.
- Sarabi took the job primarily to escape her toxic mother without having to work for years to afford her own place.
- Unseen No More: After only being shown in flashbacks, this episode gives us the first appearance of Captain Riviera in the present.
