After her impromptu musical performance alongside the Sunset Curve at school, Julie is accepted back to the music program. However, her friendship with Flynn is strained because the latter figures out that Julie is lying about explaining the Sunset Curve as mere "holograms". As a result, Julie tries to repair their friendship back by composing a song. Meanwhile, Alex strikes a friendship with a fellow ghost, Willie, who tells him that ghosts exist because they have unfinished business.

  • Brain Bleach: Alex's reaction to seeing Reggie do a butt wiggle in the auditorium, to check if only Julie can see them.
    Alex: I wish I couldn't see you.
  • Crash-Into Hello: Alex's introduction to Willie starts with this.
  • Former Friend of Alpha Bitch: It is revealed that Julie used to be friends with Carrie, but they had a falling out the moment she shut herself in from everyone after her mother's death.
  • Friendship Song: "Flying Solo" is an ode to Julie's friendship with Flynn, with the former singing this to convince Flynn to get back together.
  • Genre Savvy: While everyone accepts Julie's explanation about the Sunset Curve, Flynn, being her best friend, knows that she is lying. This upsets her, since Julie doesn't even want to tell the truth to her.
  • Like Cannot Cut Like: Willie unwittingly bumps into Alex since both are ghosts.
  • Mundane Utility: Since his death, Willie has had freedom to skate all over Earth, since he can no longer bump into living people.
  • Shaking Her Hair Loose: Willie does this after taking off his helmet. Judging by the slow-motion Alex is very impressed by the Hair Flip.
  • Ship Tease: Alex has plenty of these upon being introduced to Willie.
  • Unfinished Business: Willie tells Alex that ghosts remain on Earth because they have unfinished business, although they won't know what it is easily.
