Dukey has to go to the vet for his checkup, but he's afraid. Therefore, Johnny must get him to go. But every time Johnny tries to chase Dukey, he runs away and outsmarts him.

- Afraid of Doctors: Dukey is so afraid of going to the vet that he takes drastic measures to avoid it.
- Burning Rubber: Dukey leaves a trail of flaming footprints up the stairs running away from Johnny and his dad.
- Costume-Test Montage: Trying to find something in the girls’ lab to help him avoid the vet, Dukey goes through a closet and tries on a bunch of different costumes. Johnny does the same moments later.
- Exact Words: Hugh says that Johnny has to make sure Dukey gets to the vet because he begged and pleaded to have a dog, but Johnny disagrees with his wording.Johnny: I didn’t beg and plead, I whined and sulked. Big difference.
- Flashback: Johnny and his dad have one of the last time they tried to take Dukey to the vet and he was so scared that he jumped out of the car window.
- Giant Medical Syringe: Dukey finally agrees to go to the vet, however when the doctor brings out a giant needle he goes running again.
- Mid-Battle Tea Break: Johnny and Dukey pause their intense chase to get a snack at a malt shop because they’re both hungry.
- Run for the Border: Dukey’s plan to escape the vet once and for all is to run away to Mexico and get adopted by “steak ranchers.”
- Toilet Humour: Johnny tells Dukey that going to the doctor is something everyone has to do….like holding gas in at the dinner table. This is punctuated by a fart noise.
