Recap / Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean Stone Ocean

Go To

Florida, 2011. A young woman named Jolyne "Jojo" Cujoh is arrested after a hit and run results in the death of a man. Her attorney passes along a pendant from her estranged father Jotaro Kujo; the pendant contains a strange stone, which scratches her. Jolyne throws the pendant away in frustration and recalls the details of the incident that landed her in jail - her boyfriend Romeo Jisso was driving when he accidentally hit and killed someone on the road. At his behest, Jolyne helped him dispose of the body, but was arrested. She is taken to Green Dolphin Street Prison, where she befriends fellow prisoner Ermes Costello and discovers that she has developed a strange power that allows her to create strings from her body which she can use to eavesdrop on conversations or attack her enemies.

Jolyne's lawyer convinces her to plead guilty to avoid a DUI charge and only receive 1 year in prison for accidental homicide. However, when she enters her plea, the judge reveals that she has been charged with premeditated murder and sentences her to fifteen years. As the lawyer leaves, Jolyne overhears him report to Romeo that she has been successfully framed, much to her fury. Realizing that her new powers were likely granted to her by the stone in the pendant, Jolyne uses them to throttle the lawyer as he departs the prison, causing him to suffer a fatal car crash.
