On a trip to Uncle's hometown, some evil mirror spirits are released.
This episode provides examples of:
- The Bus Came Back: Tohru's mother comes back (complete with insulting Uncle) through a mirror spirit possessing Tohru out of his fear that he's just like his mother.
- Forced Transformation: Happens to anybody possessed by a mirror spirit. Jackie's gets a physically big head, Jade turns into a donkey, Tohru turns into his mother, and Uncle is mute.
- Light Is Not Good: The mirror spirits are white and have light based powers. Their main purpose is to possess humans and make their fears or personal insecurities come true.
- Mirror Monster: The monsters of the week are malevolent spirits sealed within a mirror that can jump into and curse anyone within the mirror's line of sight whenever light shines upon it. They're defeated by being sealed into various reflective objects.
- Silent Snarker: Uncle is mute for most of the episode. After Jackie's newly enlarged head gets him stuck while leaving the temple, Tohru pulls him out. Uncle then motions his arms to point out Jackie's new head size.Jackie: Something tells me I'm lucky I didn't hear that.
- There Was a Door: Jackie climbs the mountain to retrieve the necessary moss from beneath the ghost king statue. When he reaches the top, he sees Jade beat him there. She points out she took the tram. Jackie head desks.
- The Virus: The curse of the mirror spirits is transmissible by touch, and Uncle and Tohru unwittingly pass it onto some bystanders, which soon spreads and risks infecting the world.
