Hello! Rude to stare!

Once again, Jackie has obtained another Oni mask. It's name is Ikazuki, Tarakudo's second-in-command. In order to obtain information about Tarakudo and the Oni, Jade uses the rat talisman to animate the mask so it can be interrogated. Meanwhile, Uncle and Tohru ended up in an argument that they refuse to talk to one another, setting the problem of the villain's escape.

While searching for the mask, Finn accidentally sits on Ikazuki, which becomes attached to his butt. Ikazuki then plans Tohru's abduction in order to turn him into his new host.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Anything but That!: Tarakudo says this right before Jade hits him with an onion.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: At the start of the episode, Finn makes it clear he intends to be the one to wear the mask of the week as Chow and Ratzo had already gotten to wear masks. He wears the mask alright. Right on his behind.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: When Tohru is kidnapped by the Shadowkhan, he lets out an "aiyah!".
  • Curse Cut Short:
Jade: The demon from planet Ura
    Jackie: Jade!
    Jade: Er, Neptune!
  • Defiant Captive: When Ikazuki tries to coerce Tohru into giving him the mask removal potion, he gets this rebuttal:
  • Everything's Better with Samurai: Ikazuki's Shadowkhan are actually samurai.
  • Feud Episode: Tohru gets tired of Uncle's constant demands and snaps. The two stop talking to one another in a Tell Him I'm Not Speaking to Him way. They make up at the end.
  • Foreshadowing: The Chan Clan begins looking for a means to stop Tarakudo for good. While no headway is actually made, they'll eventually discover a way to defeat him in the season finale.
  • Glass Cannon: Offensively the samurai Shadowkhan are no joke, but defensively go down quite easily.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: Used twice: first Jackie and Jade used this on the animated Ikazuki mask in order to have more info on the Oni, and then Ikazuki and Finn also use this tactic in order to make Tohru reveal where did he hide the mask removal potion (since Ikazuki was attached to Finn's tuchus, and neither of them were enjoying it).
  • Informed Ability: Ikazuki is supposedly the most feared of the Oni generals and Tarakudo's dragon thanks to his leadership skills. Since he is a mask reanimated by the rat talisman, he spends much of the episode powerless and is an almost literal Butt-Monkey when he gets stuck on Finn's behind.
  • It's All My Fault: Uncle blames himself for getting Tohru captured by Ikazuki and punishes himself with the two-finger slap.
  • Jerkass Ball: Uncle is much more of a rude old man than usual at the start, giving constant demands to an exhausted Tohru before the two argue.
  • Kneel Before Zod: Ikazuki orders everybody to bow before him when he's first animated with the Rat talisman, and then when he gets a host, but both times it backfires spectacularly, since the first time he had no body and couldn't summon Shadowkhan, and the second time because he was attached to Finn's behind.
Ikazuki: [after being animated for first time] Ikazuki lives! Bow before my mighty form! ...Where is my mighty form?

Ikazuki: Ikazuki lives! Bow before my mighty form!
Ratso: [to Chow] No way I'm bowing to Finn's tuchus.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Ratso is tasked with removing Ikazuki from Finn's backside. It's awkward for all involved.
Ikazuki: Well? What are you waiting for?!
Ratso: Uh, well, this is kinda awkward.
Ikazuki: Simpleton! Do as you are told!
    Finn: What he said.
Ratso: Okay! But we are never gonna bring this up again.
    Chow: I'm not even here.
  • Nobody Poops: Averted, for laughs. During the later half of the episode, Finn has to go to the bathroom, but can't because of Ikazuki being stuck to his behind. The episode ends with him and the other enforcers going to a diner, where Finn immediately storms into the men's room.
  • NOT!: Happens several times in the opening scene.
Fisherman: Oni. This antique looks valuable. This is my lucky day.
    Ratso: Not!
Chow: Demon magic, here I come!
Finn: Not! You clowns had your chance at being ninja masters and you blew it!
Ratso: We was doing ok until Chan showed up.
Finn: Well nobody's taking off this mask, those Shadowkhan are gonna be my slaves.
Jackie: [swings in and grabs the mask] Not! [throws it to Tohru on a motorboat] Tohru! GOGOGO!
Dark Hand: Not! Look what washed up on deck. [show that Jade is tied to an anchor]
Jackie: Jade, what are you doing here?!
Jade: Looks like I'm catch of the day.
Finn: Give me back my mask Chan.
Chow: Or its anchors away for your niece.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After Uncle starts making demand after demand, what finally causes Tohru to snap at Uncle is when the latter tells him to take a bath after he already scolded him for trying to do so.
  • Self-Harm: Uncle inflicts the two-finger slap on himself as punishment after Tohru is captured.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: Downplayed, but Uncle realizes Tohru forgot to make the removal potion. Tohru takes out a vial and smugly points out he already made it by himself.
  • Tell Him I'm Not Speaking to Him: Uncle and Tohru spend most of the episode like this using Jackie and Jade as messengers, much to Jackie's annoyance.
