Playing his last card in a desperate attempt to please his siblings, Shendu goes to Earth once again and successfully possesses Jackie Chan. Then he travels to Australia and finds the Book of Ages, a magical book where all history is recorded. Shendu alters the book, changing history so the demons were never defeated in the first place, while Jade fails to stop him, though tearing a piece of the book off in the process.
Jade then finds herself in a world dominated by demons, where humans (including her family) are slaves, and don't remember how the world used to be, since the piece of page Jade teared was about her, and thus she escaped the changes. Now Jade has to find a way to return things back to how they used to be.
This episode provides examples of:
- The Cameo: Valmont and the Enforcers are Shendu's jesters.
- The Cassandra: Nobody believes Jade when she tries to explain that demons never ruled the world. However, her electronic watch is seen as good enough proof that she was saying the truth.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Shendu about to incinerate Jackie.
- Contrived Coincidence: Jade just happens to accidentally tear out the page of the Book of Ages that is about her.
- Crapsack World: Shendu's world where demons reign over the human race.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Tampering with the Book of Ages to rewrite reality is considered this, to the point that even Shendu's fellow demon sorcerers are reluctant to do so; Bai Tza outright tells him that he is risking the possibly permanent altering of how reality works, which they make clear is not an idea they want to pan out.
- Here We Go Again!: Shendu is given one more chance to assist his demon siblings. He returns to Earth to possess Jackie in order to pursue his goal. This time, he succeeds.
- In Spite of a Nail: History is rewritten by Shendu to make it, so he and his siblings were never sealed away and have been ruling Earth for centuries, making Earth a dystopian world with no modern technology. Yet, all the main characters still exist in this alternate reality, Uncle still knows how to perform chi magic, Viper is still a skilled thief etc.
- Medieval Stasis: Shendu rewrites history so that human technology never advanced past ancient/medieval levels. He also forbids humans from learning magic or martial arts.
- Oh, Crap!: Tons in this episode:
- This is the reaction the demons get when Shendu mentions the Book of Ages as an alternate way out of the Netherworld and more; they actually are horrified at this. The only reason they go along with his plan is because they are desperate.
- It's also the reaction Jade and Tohru get when Shendu possesses Jackie, and her parents' reaction when Shendu, using Jackie's body, leaps out the window of their apartment, swings on a pole, and lands on his feet.
- This is Uncle's reaction when he realizes Shendu is getting ready to rewrite history.
- Jade gives this when she sees Shendu restored and sitting on a throne. And when she realizes, "I'm in Demon World!"
- It's her reaction when she sees the Dark Hand as Shendu's jesters.
- Her reaction and Jackie's when they meet Shendu's Dragon Minions.
- And lastly, the heroes' reaction when Shendu wakes up on their attempt to steal his Talismans.
- Reality-Writing Book: The Book of Ages, a magical recording of all history that can apparently change everything if rewritten.
- Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: Only Shendu, the Demon Sorcerers, and Jade know about the previous timeline. The bad guys' excuse is that Shendu was the one to change the timeline in the first place, and probably informed his siblings. Jade, however, escaped the mind washing of her friends because she accidentally tore out the page in the Book of Ages that stated she Set Right What Once Went Wrong. Since that section didn't get altered, neither did she.
- Slave Race: All of humanity has been turned into [un]willing servants/subjects of the Demon Sorcerer clan, who are now referred to as "the Eight Emperors" by Jackie.
- Sorcerous Overlord: Shendu and all his siblings are this now.
- Title Drop: By Jade when she realizes all eight demons now rule the Earth."I'm in Demon World!!!!"
- Villain World: The point of the whole episode.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Jade has this reaction all over the episode; first when she realizes that the world is ruled by demons, that both she and Jackie are Shendu's personal slaves, and that she has many disgusting chores like clipping Shendu's claws, and the fact that Jackie has no idea of martial arts.
