Recap / J-WITCH S2 E6, "What's More Dangerous?"

Go To

Nerissa and Drago unleash the Annihilators on Meridian, which will require Jade's newly enhanced powers to stop. Meanwhile, Matt asks Caleb to train him how to fight so he can help out the Guardians.

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • To better reflect the supposed power of Quintessence that was never really shown in canon, Will is trained to use it to form barriers and manipulate the life-force in plants.
    • Since Drago uses his own Quintessence powers to bring the Annihilators to life in this take on things, they have claws and are linked to him, allowing him to direct them to do more than just mindlessly rampage towards the palace.
  • Adapted Out: The subplot from the canonical episode "D is for Dangerous" about the Guardians taking turns looking after Mr. Huggles after Will's mother makes her get rid of him is absent here, due to Susan being willing to let Will keep him. Word of God is that this is because this subplot was viewed as being totally unnecessary.
  • Anti-Magic: It's discovered that Jade's upgraded shadow powers can now negate magical power sources, which is used to permanently destroy the Annihilators.
  • Beam-O-War: A variation at the start of Jade and Drago's fight, when she counters his flame breath with shadow flames of her own.
  • Bully Hunter: It's mentioned early on that Frank, Charlie, and Rocko gave Uriah a swirly for trying to mess with Elyon.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Jade's shadow powers being able to negate the Quintessence animating the Annihilators catches Drago completely off guard.
  • For Want Of A Nail: It's Drago rather than Nerissa who brings the Annihilators to life, so they take on a more reptilian form that better reflects him.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Jade's Anti-Magic powers let her permanently destroy the Annihilators.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: As soon as Drago realizes that Jade's powers can permanently destroy the Annihilators, he singles her out during the final fight with them and tries to kill her himself.
  • "Not So Different" Remark:
    • Both the villains and heroes compare the Annihilators to the Shadowkhan, being mindless magical constructs used as Mooks.
    • Jade compares Matt's current situation with Will (being kept from helping by an overprotective loved one) to how things used to be with her and Jackie.
  • Secret-Keeper: Jade discovers that Matt is training under Caleb and promises to keep it a secret from Will until he's ready to tell her himself.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Nerissa takes an interest in Jade after learning about her Anti-Magic abilities.
Nerissa: Jade Chan... what is it that makes you so special?
