"To Russia with Love" is an episode of JAG that first aired on May 19, 1998. Directed by Tony Wharmby. Written by Donald P. Bellisario and Larry Moskowitz.

Lt. Commander Rabb gets more evidence that his MIA father was actually sent to Russia. He heads there after convincing the reluctant Admiral Chegwidden, and Major MacKenzie is unofficially assigned to accompany him. The episode ends with Rabb and Mac getting shot down in a stolen MIG-29.

Tropes

  • Bilingual Backfire: Two hotel clerks make some crude remarks about Rabb "being able to afford" a woman like Mac. Mac steps forward and rattles off a quick, untranslated, reply, then tells Rabb not to bother trying to look up what she said in his phrasebook.
  • Bolivian Army Cliffhanger: Rabb and Mac's plane is hit by a missile behind a cloud, possibly killing these two main characters.
  • Creator Cameo: Donald P. Bellisario has a short scene as Hugh Blackadder, a friend of Harmon Rabb Jr.'s stepfather.
  • Driving Question: What happened to Harmon Rabb, Sr.? So far the son has pieced together that the father was sent to Siberia after being shot down over Vietnam.
  • Like a Son to Me: Harmon Rabb, Jr. to Frank Burnett, his mother's boyfriend.
