Tropes:
- Amusement Park of Doom: The carnival becomes one after all of its attendants end up turning into Horrors.
- Belated Injury Realization: During the fight with the Horrors, Jocelyn got slashed on the leg and didn't notice until she was on the car ride home, due to the adrenaline rush.
- Big Damn Heroes: If they survived the events of It Lives Beneath, Harper and their partner (or Danni if they're single) will arrive on scene to pick up Rowan and their friends from the Horror-filled carnival.
- Chekhov's Skill: If Rowan sparred with Amalia in Chapter 13, they will be able to use the "block, grab, attack" move they learned from her to dispatch the Horrors.
- The Dissenter Is Always Right: Lincoln, the one who was by far the most vocal about not trusting Matthias, is revealed to be entirely correct, since Matthias planned to sacrifice Rowan for his own benefit.Lincoln: I knew we shouldn't have trusted him, goddamnit!
- Face–Heel Turn: If Rowan has been romancing Matthias and doesn't think he's a monster, or does but chooses to be with him anyway, they will join his side, unlocking the "Judas Kiss" route.
- It Has Been an Honor: If Jocelyn's relationship is high enough, she will comment that it's been an honor to fight by Rowan's side during the battle with the Horrors.
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Played with; if Rowan romanced multiple characters and chose one of them to be with, the other character(s) will respect their decision, but they will still lose some relationship points.
- Love-Interest Traitor: Jocelyn is revealed to have been working for Matthias prior to this chapter. Depending on her relationship score, she will either come clean beforehand (if her relationship score is at least 50) or lead Rowan into Matthias' trap and find out that he was lying to her (if her relationship score is below 50).
- Not Afraid to Die: During the Horror-filled carnival, Jocelyn is ready to die fighting if she has to.Rowan: We can't take them all down!Jocelyn: Then we stop as many as we can, while we still can!
- The Reveal: Matthias killed his brother LJ in a fit of rage, begged the Power to bring him back, and merged both of their consciousnesses together, which is why he can switch between his older and younger looks at will.
- Saying Too Much: If Rowan agrees to take Loha's place, Matthias almost gets away with manipulating them...and then Adrian comes in and says that the preparations for the Blood Moon Ritual are ready, causing Rowan to change their mind about their sacrifice.Matthias: Oh, Adrian. We had them!
- Was It All a Lie?: If Rowan has been romancing Jocelyn and she comes clean, they will ask if what they had was even real.
- Waxing Lyrical: If Rowan's personality is sarcastic and their love interest shoots Sherriff Cunningham (who has turned into a Horror), they will comment "But you did not shoot the deputy". Cue a Flat "What" from their love interest.
- Wham Episode: Matthias is revealed to be the Big Bad, Jocelyn is revealed to be a Love-Interest Traitor, and Rowan can potentially betray their friends and join Matthias' side.
- You Lose at Zero Trust:
- If Abel's relationship score is below 70, he won't trust Rowan enough to ask for help, resulting in him not getting the shield.
- If Jocelyn's relationship score is below 50, she won't warn Rowan about Matthias' trap. Notably, if this happens and Rowan's Nerve score is too low, the option to attack and kill Jocelyn will appear in the next chapter.
