A young man named Gene Khan decides the time is right to take his rightful place as The Mandarin. Meanwhile, Tony Stark, dubbed Iron Man in his armor by the media, takes down a trio of Earth Movers, one of his father's last inventions that have been weaponized by the new Stark International CEO Obadiah Stane.

- Abusive Parents: Zhang is not very nice or caring toward his stepson Gene.
- Awesome, but Impractical: When Stane to tries to sell the Earth Movers as weapons to the military, they shown to be powerful but too slow due their size, as one military official points out how enemy force won't just stand still to get blasted and Stane's lack of knowledge of how the laser system Tony designed for them.
- Capture and Replicate: At the end of the episode it is revealed that Gene has imprisoned his stepfather, and takes his place as the Mandarin, while leading the Tong in his place.
- Idiot Ball: Stane started the series off with when he tried to weaponize the Starks' laser-drilling Humongous Mecha, forgetting that only Tony and Howard knew how the things actually worked, nearly wiping out half of the state of New York when they inevitably misfire.
- Right Behind You: In the opening of the episode, Stane wants to Stark International employees to find Iron Man so they can study the armor, reserve-engineer it, and start selling to the military for a fortune. Iron Man then appears flying outside the window behind Stane.
