Reagan is being promoted to head of Cognito Inc. while J.R. moves up to the Shadow Board, but her first day is ruined when someone steals the master file containing every conspiracy Cognito has ever engaged in.
Tropes:
- Bad Boss: J.R admits he sends people to shadow prison for fun and in his goodbye speech, made it clear he has no emotional connection to his employees and will not miss them.
- Blackmail: Oprah forces J.R. to guide her through the traps or she'll tell the Shadow Board about the mole in Cognito, scuttling his chances at promotion either way. He plays along until he can trick her into getting herself killed.
- Borrowed Biometric Bypass: Rand is able to break into Cognito by using Reagan's cloned hand to get past the scanners.
- Briar Patching: J.R. honestly tells Oprah the right answer to the final challenge, knowing that she'll suspect he's trying to play her and act contrary out of paranoia. He lampshades it as she dangles from a root inside the pit trap that opens beneath her.
- Call-Back:
- In a Freeze-Frame Bonus moment, when the planets are shown to align, you can see the moon being moved into position with the rockets from the previous episode. And given the fact Rand obtained the controls to said moon rockets at the end of that episode...
- Mark Zuckerberg gets crushed by one of the traps in the maze and bleeds blue: he was revealed as a (half?)Reptoid in episode 3.
- Glenn is revealed to have been going undercover at Georgetown, the town stuck in the '80s shown in episode 5.
- Celebrity Casualty: Most of the candidates for the Shadow Board position are celebrities, and none of them survive the trials. The Pope is the first one, falling to a snake bite, while Oprah Winfrey takes a trap door into a bottomless pit at the end.
- Disco Sucks: Apparently, Rand killed Disco here.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: News of the mole has the main group distrusting each other. By the end, however, it turns out that none of them stole the Unspoken File. The thief is none other than Bear-O.
- Erotic Dream: While under the truth serum, Myc reveals that he's read Glenn's mind and seen that he's had erotic dreams about the whole gang, much to everyone's disgust.
- Foreshadowing: Late in the episode Reagan laments that she might not be 'cut out' for being CEO. Rand then responds by talking about what he would have done if he became CEO. At the end of Episode 10, Reagan finds out the Shadow Board has removed her as CEO and instead instated Rand.
- Hope Spot: With news that he is going to achieve his dream of joining the Shadow Board, J. R. finally promotes Reagan as head of Cognito Inc. She quickly makes some changes, promising a new era for the company... until J. R. announces that there is a mole inside who stole a vital file that could endanger everything. It all goes downhill from here.
- Irony: Reagan had originally wanted to rule Cognito Inc with an iron fist, but learning about the mediocre bonuses she and the others received before J. R's departure prompts her to be nicer and more efficient. During the mole hunt, however, she resorts to unethical means to find them.
- Logic Bomb: Reagan causes her ethics-abiding robot to explode when she points out that lording ethics over others is itself unethical.
- Shark Pool: J.R. releases a rising tide filled with sharks that know Krav Maga (supposedly) to force Reagan to find the mole quickly while he leaves for his promotion.
- Simple Solution Won't Work: At the start of the mole hunt, Gigi suggests having Myc simply read everyone's minds to find the mole. Myc explains that he got a little too enthusiastic with the new milking machine Reagan built him, resulting in him being too drained.
- Take That!: The Pope is the first contestant to die in the maze and upon that he says "I always knew there was no God."
- Mark Zuckerberg is also killed in the maze.
- Truth Serum: Reagan spikes the gang's drinks with Andre's truth serum in the hopes that someone will fess up to being the mole. All that happens is a whole bunch of unrelated personal secrets are revealed and everyone becomes even more angry at each other.
