Recap / Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria: The Music Car

Go To

As Professor Cerise and Chloe encounter Carl Foster, the Red Lotus Quarto must sing their hearts out.

This chapter contains examples of:

  • Ambiguous Gender: Warbler, the Denizen Goh meets, is a silent sentient music note who only speaks in music, so it's difficult to tell whether they're male or female. Goh thinks it's the latter, though.
  • Band Land: The Music Car is based off this with houses based off on drums and a karaoke bar.
  • Call-Back:
    • Yuna describing the challenge of singing to leave the Music Car has Lexi be reminded of Atticus's remarks on the Crystal Car where Tulip had to sing "Word Up" to pass.
    • Carl praises Professor Cersise's chewing out on Class 5-E, which the dear old Professor regrets due to the domino effect it had on his family.
  • Continuity Nod: Yuna was referenced in Knight of the Orange Lily, who helped Lampetia to take care of Specter in the Living Lightning Car.
  • Five Stages of Grief: Goh's confession to Warbler takes this form, running through Denial, Depression, Bargaining, and Anger in one go.
  • Karaoke Bonding Scene: The point of the car, as each song reveals something about the singer.
  • Mundane Utility: Mew uses their teleportation powers to obtain Kris's flashdrive.
  • Not So Similar: Carl clearly considers Professor Cerise to be just like him: somebody sick of arrogant children like Ash and Chloe's former classmates, and who wants to see them properly punished. But the Professor regrets the results of his lashing out, while Carl shows no signs of remorse... or stopping.
  • Overly Narrow Superlative: Played for Laughs with Hazel's assessment of Warbler, as Goh's train companion that's entirely his own.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Carl actually comments on Chloe getting an Eevee of her own and shows off his Flareon to her.
    • On the Train, Goh is finally given a break after being harassed and brutally broken by everyone by meeting Warbler, who not only, honestly listens to him, but doesn't invalidate him when he asks if he's wrong.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Lexi's song is "Early Winter" reflecting his separation with Chloe, whose birthday is in Autumn.
  • Shrouded in Myth: The tragedy of the Noir Princess Car. No one's quite sure what it was about anymore.
  • The Silent Bob: Warbler, which Goh greatly appreciates...she can hear him out without immediately telling him how he's wrong like it feels everyone has been doing to him for a long time.
  • Tempting Fate: Lexi thinks he can survive the movie that's playing in the Grand Cineplex car. Then Amelia unravels a poster that is a movie retelling of Chloe's adventures on the Train...
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Lexi and Amelia are not looking forward to coming across the premiere of Blossoming Trail, Part 1: No Time and No Place.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Professor Cerise does not appreciate how Carl sees his confrontation of class 5-E as "inspirational".
