Recap / Infinity Train: Seeker of Crocus: The Skill Crane Car

Go To

The Windchasers continue their trek across the Train while Goh learns how much his childhood friend has been suffering while he goes off in search of Mew.

This chapter contains examples of:

  • Ambiguous Syntax: Pratt mentions how Gladion traveled with three partners to stop the Apex. The "three partners" in this case, depending on whether one is familiar with Knight of the Orange Lily can either mean his three Pokémon or the other members of White Gestalt.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: After Goh explains what Chloe does at the Cerise Institute, basically sit there, do homework, be on her phone, there is an awkward silence as Victor and Gloria wait for him to say what he does for her. When he doesn't continue, Victor asks one simple word: "And?" The serverity of the word makes Goh realizing that he himself had been blind to a few things and how he never actually put any thought of hanging out with her as he does Ash.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Yuri saving the plush rabbit (Tobe) and the data spider (Netto) has them join him as his denizen partners as thanks.
  • The Blacksmith: Blacksmith Pratt from the Toy Brick Car creates shields and other weapons.
  • Bookends: Yuri and a mysterious figure sing the lyrics to the same song ("The Spectre" by AlanWalker).
  • Built with LEGO: The Windchasers visit the Toy Brick Car which is essentially a LEGO based car.
  • Continuity Nod: Hope you've been paying attention to the original trilogy folks!
    • Pratt shows off two designs for his shields — the ones for Gladion (with orange lilies) and Specter (the blooming tree with pink blossoms). Also, given how Pratt can't remember what happened this means the memory wipe that prevents anyone from recalling the White Gestalt is still in effect.
    • The references to a nightmare Alex had about Sycamore is from a one-shot in Poppies for Flauros.
    • In the Advertisement Car, Yuri slams his fist at an ad of a malasada shop, presumably Mallow's Magical Malasadas in the Canals of Fondue Car.
    • Taito said that Tobe (the plush bunny) is a refugee from the Plush Car before the Apex went after the Musical Car, which is the car that starts Book 3 of Infinity Train.
    • The hooded figure with Ogami mentions how Ogami killed a man named Leo (Akaba). They're also in the Burial Ground of Blades Car where Chloe fought Zack Foster in Blossoming Trail.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • The song that Sycamore had to sing was "The Spectre". In the Toy Brick Car. the Windchasers learn that one of Pratt's customers was Specter.
    • One of the ads notes that the Cyan Desert Car's story festival is coming up. The Cyan Desert will be a future car the group enters.
  • Identical Stranger: The Windchasers mistake Specter for Lexi and think the former is copying the latter (since Lexi had been buried underground during the events of Specter's journey).
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Goh learns what Chloe's been suffering while he has fun chasing his dreams about everything their class does to her on a daily basis, particularly the paint can incident that caused her to wail on her bully with nothing but her rage.
    • Sycamore learns that Alain is in the Fog Car.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Chloe's attack on her bully ended up like one of these and Goh is shocked to see his friend snapping like that.
  • Oh, Crap!: Yuri has this look when he hears Sycamore mouth "Silent Hill" and knows that it's not a nice place to visit.
  • Wham Episode: The author state this was the "calm before the storm" and has big revelations to the timeline, the biggest ones being that someone murders Ogami — the Big Bad of Voyage of Wisteria — and incinerates his soul completely and Sycamore learns that Alain is in The Fog Car.
