Recap / Infinity Train: Seeker of Crocus: The Poring Village Car

Go To

While the Windchasers get a long-deserved break,

This arc contains examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: Trip admits that his parents didn't realize he was missing for over a year while he was fighting for his life and being assaulted by the Apex, which is why he doesn't want Goh to get on it. It's presumably also where his distaste toward everyone in the Cerise Institute comes from — numerous adults who didn't seem to recognize that someone was in danger of disappearing and never to be found.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Trip assumes that Goh won't have an answer to his question of 'why was the only thing you knew/cared about Chloe was that she wasn't into Pokémon anymore', but he actually does, and Trip struggles for a counter at that point.
Goh: "Because that's the longest sentence I got from her in weeks!"
  • Bait-and-Switch: On their way to the Cerise Institute, Parker, Gloria and Goh hear Trip scream for someone to shut up along with heavy sobbing. Parker opens the door to see Ash going through his guilt complex and hugs him, pleading for the Pallet Town trainer not to leave. Trip is confused as to why Parker thinks Trip is angry at Ash...he's actually angry at Leon, Reggie and Meyer for calling them for answers Ash can't give them.
  • Because I'm Good At It: Part of the reason Trip focused on his Brutal Honesty in order to help is because he thought that was his best method for fixing the issues before him.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Trip screams this in the Cerise Institute to tell everyone hounding Ash for questions to bug off.
Trip: FOR THE LOVE OF ARCEUS WILL YOU [Meyer, Reggie, and Leon] JUST SHUT UP?!
  • Big "WHAT?!": Goh's reaction to learning that Trip and Ash were together.
  • Bittersweet Ending: For Trip's story; he leaves after realizing he can't do anymore to help the situation and must leave Ash — after his love confession — to better himself. However he did accomplish getting Ash and Professor Cerise aware of the Infinity Train and helped expose all the bullying Chloe went through and he and Ash leave on amicable terms.
  • Breather Episode: It has its moments, but this Car is overall much lighter than the previous one.
  • But Now I Must Go: Trip leaves Vermillion after realizing that his methods are causing just as many problems as he's fixing and that he's not really able to be in a relationship with Ash until he takes a good look at himself.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Yuri gets excited at seeing Porings and acts like Rena Ryuguu at how he wants to take them home.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When Leon reads Hop's email finding a shepherd in Silent Hill, he realizes that "a" shepherd is a hint for Alex Shepherd, protagonist of Silent Hill: Homecoming, the one with the child sacrifices.
  • Groin Attack: Tobe gives one to Vaillant.
  • Hero of Another Story: The Red Lotus Trio passed by the Poring Village Car once and the King Poring brings up how Atticus is also a hero who brought One-One back as the Conductor.
  • Internal Reveal: Plenty, from Goh learning that Ash and Trip became a couple, Leon revealing Hop's email in Silent Hill, the Windchasers learning about Atticus's previous heroic journey, etc.
  • Last Kiss: Trip gives one kiss on Ash's cheek before he leaves the Cerise Institute.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The chapter essentially distills the most important parts of Trip's role in Blossoming Trail, bringing up his own train trip, encounter with the Apex, and confessing his love for Ash.
  • Meaningful Rename: Shadow Sycamore gives himself the name of "Asher" which is Hebrew for "Happiness" in the hopes of regaining his own happiness on the journey.
  • Oblivious to Love: Ash, as usual, as he didn't know what a crush meant until Trip confessed.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Trip assumed that Goh would go immediately try to board the train and not consider the seriousness of the situation if he learned about the train from Ash, especially since Goh can be so absorbed in something that he fails to properly hear things out. However, Goh points out that Gloria, a stranger, was able to get him to understand rather easily.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Discussed. When Augustine states he won't forgive his Shadow for everything he did, that doesn't necessarily means he hates him. It's just that he has decided to move on and focus on what he can do.
  • Time Skip: The first scene establishes that it's been three days since the Twisted Lab Car.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gloria and Goh tag-team calling out Trip for keeping Goh Locked Out of the Loop to everyone's detriment.
  • Yaoi Fangirl: Gloria looks rather...interested when Ash states the whole "Trip and I are boyfriends" scneario.
