Gold, gold, gold!

The gang cons a one Dexter Gold, a gold reseller, who also deals in stolen gold bullion.

Trope:

  • All Men Are Perverts: Dexter Gold; blatantly sexist, gives her PA eerie looks, and claims anyone in flat shoes is a lesbian.
  • Bling-Bling-BANG!: He is obsessed with Gold. Pretty much everything he owns is gold; his smartphone, car, his office is gold, his suit; even his facial hair is gold-coloured, and the puns he makes are all gold-related.
  • Bowdlerise: When Dexter meets up with his gang members, Snoop Dogg's "Drop it like it's hot" plays, minus the expletives.
  • Dissimile: The gang compares themselves to Robin Hood; except they keep what they steal.
  • Embarrassing Last Name: Dexter Gold's real last name is Dexter Pratt.
  • Gunpoint Banter: At the farmhouse exchange, Mickey pulls a gun out on Dexter to threaten to lose the commission on the gold.
  • Happy Ending Override: Zigzagged. After the con is done, and all the loose ends have been wrapped up, Dexter walks into Eddie's Bar and reveals he found them when he was being herded in when seeing the gold for the first time. However, instead of the implied gang violence, he wanted to hire the crew to take down Heinz for giving him a dodgy check.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: Eddie compares the group to a bunch of big kids, and isn't happy when the crew defile a photo of Ian Rush, the Liverpool footballer, and we cut a few moments later to the crew giggling and drawing on Ian's face.
  • The Internet Is for Porn: Emma hacks into Dexter's online movie account and notes that, to her surprise, he watches a lot of war films, not as Sean thought, porn.
  • Lethal Chef: Mickey tries cooking sausages, and judging by Sean and Alberts reaction...it's not nice.
  • Mistaken for Prank Call: Albert pulls some strings and gets Ian Rush on the phone to Eddie, and Eddie assumes it's a prank call.
  • The Reveal:
    • The farm that was used for the failed handoff was chosen as the nearby army base kept ignoring the fences and raiding it as part of their training.
    • The German distributor shown at the start; Heinz Zimmerman was actually a friend of Albert, the very same person he was talking to when he saw the old lady crying.
    • The football rant by Ash was recorded by Emma and the crew so that Sean could do some Manipulative Editing.
  • Ripped from the Headlines: An In-Universe case, as a recent Libyan Gold Bullion truck was stolen, and Ash notes that it cuts down on time making a new story if they simply use the above instead as a basis.
  • Shout-Out: The title of this episode is "Gold Finger"; a reference to the film. The Mark also apparently dresses up as the titular villain of the film on the rare occasion he goes to a fancy dress party, despite the fact nobody ever guesses it.
  • Spoiled Brat: The girl at the start definitely qualifies. You can see the pain in the gang's faces when she tells them that she can have whatever she wants because daddy said so. Even her mother is annoyed by her behaviour.
  • Writing Around Trademarks: The "Online DVD Rental service" Emma refers to is very clearly Netflix (back before movie streaming really took off).
