Lily feels left out when Robin begins hanging out with a group of overly enthusiastic girls known as "Whoo Girls". Barney attempts to pitch Ted's building design to his company.
This episode provides examples of:
- Awesome, but Impractical: The strip club in the letter N would have some issues due to centrifugal forces.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Near the end, it is revealed that one of the "Woooo! Girls" is secretly in love with Jillian.
- Cool and Unusual Punishment: Ted and Marshall tie up Barney to the mechanical bull and set it to "paint mixer" once Ted finds out about what Barney did. He remains on it for 3 hours before an employee lets him off. This leads directly to him missing out on a three-way.
- Dinosaurs Are Dragons: Sven's design proposal for GNB is a fire breathing Tyrannosaurus rex.
- Five-Token Band: When Robin joined the "Woooo! Girls", they became a group consisting of two Americans (Jillian herself and Misty), an Ambiguously Brown woman (Stacey), an Asian-American (Crystal) and a Canadian (Robin herself).
- Four-Girl Ensemble: The titular "Woooo! Girls" before Robin joins and makes it a Five-Token Band. Lily attempted to be a Sixth Ranger but failed miserably.
- Funny Foreigner: Sven, the three-man Swedish "Architecture Collective".
- Fun with Subtitles: Near the end, it is revealed that the "Woooo! Girls" and Ted are Stepford Smilers through this.
- Girl Posse: The "Woooo! Girls".
- Hard-Drinking Party Girl: The "Woooo! Girls" are all this, but near the end Robin explains that their behavior is to compensate for the fact they are unhappy with their personal lives.
- Hidden Depths: From Lily's perspective, Jillian's behavior as a Woooo! Girl is completely unlike her usual demeanor at school. From the audience's perspective, Jillian gets a few moments that remind everyone she's still an accredited teacher and has deeper concerns with the world than the vapid party animal she's usually seen being.
- Hot Teacher: The de facto leader of the "Woooo! Girls" is Lily's co-teacher Jillian.
- Large Ham: Sven Jorgensen is, to put it mildly, quite animated during Sven's GNB presentation.Sven Jorgensen: I am Sven Jorgenson. With me are Sven Pilson and Sven Johannsson. Together we are: SVEN!! You are Goliath National Bank. You are new, you are fresh, you are cutting edge. Women wish to have you, men wish to harm you, but the fool who challenges you, will be CRUSHED!
- Law of Inverse Fertility/My Biological Clock Is Ticking: Near the end, it is revealed that Jillian is secretly afraid that she may never know what it feels like to be a mother.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Stacey, one of the "Woooo! Girls" is in love with Jillian.
- Multi-Character Title: The title refers to the four "Woooo! Girls" (five if you include Robin). Since "Woooo! Girls" is not the group's official name, being a moniker that applies to any similar group of women, it really couldn't count as Team Title.
- My Friends... and Zoidberg: When Robin points out to Lily that the "Woooo! Girls" are Stepford Smilers, Lily watches them in pity and sees Ted come along. She then voices her sympathy.Lily: Awww, those poor girls. And Ted.
- One-Steve Limit: Subverted. The architectural collective Sven consists of 3 Swedish men: Sven Pilson, Sven Johansson, and Sven Jorgenson.
- Popcultural Osmosis Failure: Marshall learns Barney has never heard of Mad Men when they are on a conference call (read: drinking beers on their office roof):Marshall: This is awesome!
Barney: We're basically mad men.
Marshall: We are. We're such Mad Men.
Barney: I'm gonna go smack a secretary on the ass.
Marshall: [laughs] That's totally what they would do on that show.
Barney: What show? - Real Men Wear Pink: Marshall is wearing a pink cowboy hat near the end of the episode.
- Shout-Out: Marshall referred to Mad Men when talking to Barney.
- Shower of Angst: Near the end, it is revealed that one of the "Woooo! Girls" secretly cries while in the shower.
- Stepford Smilers: Near the end of the episode, Robin pointed out to Lily that the "Woooo! Girls", and Ted, are this. The reason they party so hard is because they are unsatisfied with their personal lives and are trying to make themselves feel better. Lily didn't fit in the group because she already was happy with her life, which made the other girls feel inferior.
- Testosterone Poisoning: Despite Ted's design being more suited for a bank headquarters, Barney (who was in charge of selecting the project) was won over by Sven's design, which was a ''dinosaur-shaped building that breathes fire and has a Strip Club in the N".
- Three-Way Sex: Jillian and Stacey decided to do this near the end with Ted. Barney, still dizzy from the rodeo ride, wanted to participate but couldn't.
- Title Drop: To the point that it's the episode's Running Gag.
- Token Minority: One of the "Woooo! Girls" is Asian-American, though the one secretly in love with Jillian is Ambiguously Brown.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Marshall towards Barney when the latter revealed that he sold Ted out.
