- Loony Fan: George Clooney has one, a lady named Mary Beth, who routinely breaks into his mansion and is plotting to kidnap Max. Her dog, Doctor Doug Ross, explains to Max how he's a replacement pet.
- Poke the Poodle: In contrast to the awesome things Armando is seen doing in his "butt backstory" — running with his pack in the moonlight, stealing a fish from a bear's mouth, saving a boy from getting hit by a car — Honey's idea of doing wild things includes stealing food from a snack platter, rolling on Jill's bed, and honking the horn while waiting in the car.
- Replacement Goldfish: When showing Tabitha and The Gray One his home, Max realizes the pictures of him show a birthmark he doesn't have. This makes him realize that he's a replacement for the first Max. Honey later mentions that Bubbles is also a replacement, which comes as a surprise for Bubbles.
- Victoria's Secret Compartment: The Gray One's owner picks one of her cats as Cat of the Day to shove down her cleavage.
