Mavis confronts Krampus because he is slacking on the job but inadvertently convinces him to take a vacation. She then has to team up with a strange, bearded man to save Creepmas.

Tropes:

  • Advice Backfire: Mavis tries to show Krampus the error of his ways by telling him “Well, if you’re gonna start cutting out Creepmas traditions whenever it suits you, you might as well just cancel the whole thing!” However, he takes this advice the wrong way and decides to actually cancel Creepmas.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Hank’s reaction to his dad sobbing about Creepmas on live television is a disappointed Facepalm.
  • Answer Cut: Hank asks “Who do we know with enough energy to pull that sled all over the world in one night?” Cut to Tiff giving the werewolf pups the ability to fly as they’re hooked up to the front of the sleigh.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: While the group is watching Creepmas specials on TV, Hank says “...they’re the best written episodes of the season.” Then they all turn to the camera and smile.
  • Christmas Episode: Technically Creepmas, the monster version of Christmas.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Wendy suggests that Mavis should be Krampus this year, Pedro freaks out and thinks she means that Mavis is a shapeshifter.
Pedro: She’s a shapeshifter?! I knew she looked weirder than usual!
  • Coincidental Broadcast: Mavis is about to tell her friends that she accidentally made Krampus cancel Creepmas, when the holiday special they were watching gets interrupted by a news broadcast that announces just that.
  • Continuity Nod: Krampus references the events of “The Fright Before Creepmas'.
Krampus: Did we not have a problem last Creepmas too, my dear?
  • Cool Car: The Krampus Mobile, which can drive itself and fly.
  • Dirty Coward: Upon facing the Krampus, Klaus immediately throws Mavis under the bus and tells him that the letters were all her fault.
  • Evil Laugh: Klaus’ high-pitched cackling gives him and his evil plans away several times throughout the episode.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Krampus has a deep, growling voice.
  • Faux Horrific: The “horrifying” Red Castle ends up being a children’s bounce house.
  • Flashback: Krampus has one to Santa winning the Overly Narrow Superlative of “The Best Gift-Giving Holiday Hero” for the 705th year in a row - showing the rivalry between the two of them.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Despite their centuries-long rivalry, Santa and Krampus get along quite well and their attempts to outdo each other seem to be more of a friendly competition than anything.
  • Gasp!: Hank, Wendy, and Pedro all gasp when Mavis dramatically says that Krampus was going to go to the Red Castle…despite none of them actually knowing what it is.
Hank: Wait, what’s the Red Castle?
Wendy: I have never heard of that.
Wendy: Sounds like some kind of...castle.
  • Get It Over With: Krampus is prepared to inflict a number of painful punishments on Mavis but loses interest when she expresses boredom at the thought of being tortured and tells him to just get on with it.
  • The Grinch: Klaus tries to ruin Creepmas for all the other monsters by writing rude letters and making them think they’re from Krampus. He also tries to steal Krampus’ presents later in the episode.
  • High-Pressure Emotion: Mavis turns red with rage when Klaus tries to brush off angering Krampus.
  • I'm Okay!: Klaus says this after he’s been run over by Santa’s sleigh.
  • Impact Silhouette: Klaus makes one when he falls off a bridge while he’s trying to steal Krampus’ presents and slams into a cliff wall.
  • Improvised Parachute: After they’re knocked out of Santa’s sleigh by Krampus, Wendy uses her slime to form a parachute and catches Hank and Pedro.
  • Jaw Drop: Done by Hank, Pedro, and Wendy when Mavis admits to writing some of the Krampus letters.
  • The Krampus: In the Underworld, the monsters write letters to Krampus and he delivers gifts to them.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Mavis tricks Krampus and Santa into delivering all the presents for her by pitting them against each other in a competition to see who can deliver them all by morning.
  • Old-School Dogfight: Krampus starts chasing Santa in his sleigh pulled by the werewolf kids and tries to shoot him out of the sky. This is even lampshaded by Drac who’s narrating the episode.
Dracula: Santa flew the wolf pups like an ace through the night, giving new meaning to the term "dogfight".
  • Overly Long Scream: Mavis and Klaus scream the entire time the Krampus Mobile is taking them to the monster’s lair. They even pause to take a breath and then keep on screaming.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: The werewolf kids give Mavis a literal version of this trope when they show her the lame letters they got from Krampus.
  • Rhyming Episode: While the characters’ actual dialogue doesn’t rhyme, the narration, done by Dracula, does.
  • Running Away to Cry: After seeing a news broadcast reporting that Creepmas is still canceled despite her best efforts, Mavis runs out of the room crying.
  • Santa Claus: Using Wendy’s stretchy slime body, Pedro slingshots Hank’s head into the sky and accidentally ends up shooting down Santa’s sleigh. This actually ends up working to their advantage though, as Santa helps them in their efforts to bring back Creepmas.
  • Saving Christmas: After getting Creepmas canceled with her meddling, Mavis has to get the Krampus to bring back the holiday for all the good little monsters of the Underworld.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Hank, Wendy, and Pedro all bolt when Mavis tells them what the Red Castle is, leaving her to face the terrifying place alone.
    Wendy: Well...good luck with that!
  • Shout-Out: When Wendy lands on the werewolf puppies that are pulling Santa’s sleigh, some of her slime lands on the nose of the pup that’s leading the pack, making him look like he has a glowing nose.
  • Stomach of Holding: Pedro carries a wide variety of “extra provisions” in his bandages, which he pulls out of his mouth, including a battle ax, a lawnmower, and Red Live Lobsters, among other things.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Santa and Pedro are revealed to both keep emergency meat sticks in their tube socks.
