Lewis and Pembleton get the case of Ms. Bridgewell, a murdered socialite. They end up arresting the woman's brother, but when a key piece of evidence goes missing, Dr. Cox suspects Jeff (Glenn Fitzgerald), one of her assistants, has been stealing items from the morgue. Things become strained between Pembleton and Mary, and she asks them to go see a marriage counselor.
This episode contains examples of:
- Angry Black Man: The art student Lewis and Meldrick interview about Bridgewell's death acts nothing but irritated and upset with them.
- Call-Back: Lewis and Pembleton each remember the last time they worked together (we also see brief clips from that episode) none too fondly.
- Heroic BSoD: Dr. Cox has a mild one when she finds out Jeff stole the ring from the socialite who was murdered.
- Remember the New Guy?: This is the first episode Jeff has appeared in, yet Dr. Cox and Lewis act as if he's been around for a while.
- Robbing the Dead: Cox is shocked to discover that one of her assistants has been stealing valuables from corpses.
- Terminology Title: The title refers to a medical assistant who begins an autopsy by cutting a Y-shaped incision in the abdomen, and ends when they sew up the body.
- There Are No Therapists: Averted - Kellerman tells Lewis he's going to see a counselor after attempting to kill himself.
