After solving a particularly difficult jelly puzzle, our heroes journey ever deeper into Wave Echo Cave. Taako meets a kindred spirit, Merle does some missionary work and Magnus does some really cool stuff with some chains.
Tropes
- BFG: Well, BFC. Killian is described as carrying “the biggest crossbow any of you have ever seen in your lives”.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: Brian summons a giant spider, named Bryan, to help him fight the PCs and Killian.
- Casual Danger Dialogue: Subverted. Takko asks Killian her name and she tells him but then demands that they focus on the task at hand: fighting a wizard and giant spider.
- Known Only by Their Nickname: Initially, but Travis convinces Griffin and Takko convinces the Black Spider to reveal his name: Brian.
- "Open!" Says Me: How Killian gets to Magic Brian.
- Overly Long Gag: Magic Brian falls down a pit as he screams. For several minutes until Taako finishes him with Magic Missile.
- Psychic Static: The void static’s first appearance in the series.
- Retcon: Griffin forgets to mention than Gundren is in the Black Spider’s lair and retcons that he is in there several minutes after the party has gotten in there.
- Save the Villain: Well, Save The Unscrupulous Hero. Magnus rushes in to save Killian and Taako burns the webbing off of her.
