Go To

Chinese title: "战神传说" ("Zhànshén chuánshuō")
English title: "God of War Legend" (Miao Mi dub, within the episodes themselves); "Battle God" (English Amazon listings for Season 7)

In this four-part episode, Kalo is accused of hurting the ambassador of Suspicious Planet, eventually leading to an all-out war on Planet Xing.

This set of episodes contains the following tropes:

  • Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene: The scene at the end where Careful S. visits Kalo's grave and is told by Arcas that heroes turn into stars in the sky almost certainly counts.
  • Alien Invasion: Caesar sends out a legion of soldiers in spaceships to attack Planet Xing.
  • Book Ends: The story begins with Kalo looking up at the sky, musing to himself that heroes are believed to turn into stars in the sky once they die, as rays of hope for the people, and wondering if he'll even become a star himself. Arcas tells Careful S. the same thing after the story's over, in relation to Kalo actually having died.
  • Bring It: In part 3, Caesar beckons to the Supermen with his hand right before they battle.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Caesar was originally introduced in Season 3, but wasn't given much of a backstory. Here, he's revealed to be the person behind the Suspicious Planet fiasco that involved framing Kalo.
  • Dying Moment of Awesome: Kalo explodes to completely obliterate the army of ships attacking Planet Xing.
  • Four Is Death: Kalo's heroic sacrifice does not occur until the fourth and final part of the story arc.
  • Frame-Up: Kalo is squarely the target of one by Caesar, who manages to convince an imposter of the Suspicious Planet ambassador that he was involved in an attack on Suspicious Planet.
  • Go Out with a Smile: A close-up of Kalo's mouth shows he's clearly smiling right before he sacrifices himself.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: As the ambassador of Suspicious Planet recovers in the hospital, he's seen scrolling through comments on a tablet, one of which reads "hola" in Latin script.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Kalo uses the last of his energy to create an explosion and defeat the opposing army, killing himself in the process.
  • Hospital Gurney Scene: The ambassador of Suspicious Planet gets a heart attack the moment Happy S. mentions the name Adeli, due to his dislike of the Adelians, leading to him having to be carried to another room of the hospital in a gurney. Once he's finally back in his hospital bed, he ends up mentioning Adeli himself and ends up on a gurney and in the other room again, only seconds afterwards.
  • Mouthscreen: Right before Kalo sacrifices himself, we see a close-up of his mouth as he bids one final farewell to his friends.
  • Neck Lift: Caesar grabs and holds Kalo by the neck during the climatic battle, choking him until Careful S. comes in to save him.
  • Not So Stoic: Careful S. is normally quiet and relatively emotionless, but here, he's so saddened by Kalo's death that he can't help but cry along with the Supermen - even harder than the others, in fact, since he has a deep connection to Kalo.
  • Poisoned Weapons: The solders sent by Caesar wield dual-bladed daggers that are laced with purple poison that appears on the characters' resulting wounds.
  • Really Dead Montage: Kalo looking into his soul cube and seeing images and scenes of him with the Supermen and Doctor H.
  • Stars Are Souls: Kalo mentions at the beginning of the story arc that he's heard a legend about heroes turning into stars in the sky upon their death, as rays of light and hope, and he wonders to himself if he'll become a star.
  • Story Arc: Four episodes total.
  • Talk to the Fist: Caesar keeps Kalo chained up in a room that cancels all superpowers, so when he comes closer to him to proudly gloat about how he framed him, Kalo headbutts him hard enough for him to fly out of the room.
  • Wham Episode: The fourth and final part features Kalo dying, a change to the status quo that sticks around for the next couple seasons.
  • The X of Y: The story arc is called "God of War Legend" in the Miao Mi dub, at least in the episodes themselves (the Amazon listings give it as "Battle God" instead).
