Lumpy spends the day with his pet elephant, but after a misunderstanding, he sends his pet to the cage for a timeout. Lumpy returns to apologize, but the elephant already ran away. Meanwhile, Lifty and Shifty are stealing pets from the other Tree Friends to sell for cash. Will Lumpy save his beloved pet before the raccoons catch him first?
"Junk in the Trunk" contains the following:
- All Animals Are Dogs: Lumpy's elephant gets taken on walks, does his business on hydrants, and licks people to show affection like a dog would.
- An Arm and a Leg: Lifty's arms are ripped off after the elephant and Lumpy hang on to his torso while they all dangle from a cliff. Amazingly, they all survive the fall.
- Asshole Victim: Lifty and Shifty die after trying to steal all the pets in town.
- Cruel and Unusual Death:
- Giggles gets pinned to the wall by a giant poster of Lumpy's elephant and asphyxiates.
- Cuddles holds on to a rope lifting the elephant with a pulley system, but his strength gives and he's shot upward, his body forcibly shoved into the pulley.
- Shifty falls out of the van and gets his body gruesomely twisted around the front axle.
- Does Not Know His Own Strength: The elephant just wants to be friendly with strangers, but his large strength can make it difficult. Mime learns this the hard way.
- Elephants Are Scared of Mice / Eek, a Mouse!!: The elephant gets spooked by Cuddles's pet mouse twice.
- Face on a Milk Carton: Giggles's portrait ends up on a milk carton at the end of the episode.
- Hand Rubbing: When he decides to kidnap the elephant, Shifty briefly rubs his hands together.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: After surviving a fall, Lifty is then impaled by a pogo stick through his skull.
- Literal Cliffhanger: Lifty hands on to the edge of a cliff, but the weight of the elephant and Lumpy hanging on to him becomes too much and they fall.
- Loyal Animal Companion: Lumpy's elephant is as loyal as they come and Lumpy couldn't be any more grateful.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Toothy, Giggles, Cuddles, Lifty, Shifty, and Mime all die.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Lumpy survives.
- Tree Buchet: Mime's fate was shaping up to be this when Lumpy's elephant is about to get off the tree. Subverted since he's sent straight to the ground and splattered instead.
- Tropey, Come Home: After his elephant runs away, Lumpy puts up posters and tries his best to look for him.
