First comes love, then comes marriage...

"Take the bitter with the sweet!"
"The more you judge, the less you love!"

Airdate: February 8, 2008

In this Valentine's special, Nutty's search for some sweets leads him to a gumball machine and then a box of chocolates. He imagines what life would be like with them.

"A Sucker for Love" contains the following:

  • Anatomically Impossible Sex: Nutty dreams he impregnates a box of chocolates. Nuff said.
  • Breakfast in Bed: Nutty gives his chocolate box wife waffles in bed in his third romantic fantasy, complete with a vase with a candy cane in place of a flower.
  • Bridal Carry: In his second and third fantasy sequences, Nutty imagines himself carrying a gumball machine and a box of chocolates, respectively, after marrying them.
  • Bubblegum Popping: After breaking the glass of a gumball machine and chewing up both the gumballs and glass shards, Nutty blows a bubble which pops, embedding the shards in his face.
  • Cheating with the Milkman: Oddly, Nutty's Fantasy Sequence about his married life with the chocolate box involves it and Lumpy (who is a milkman) having an "affair", which causes Nutty to seemingly kill him and end up in jail for murder.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Nutty gets impaled in the back by a candy cane sign. He runs into the street and gets run over by an ambulance while being dragged by the bumper. He finally meets his end when he's impaled on a spiked speed bump.
  • Death by Ambulance: A somewhat more drawn-out examples. Nutty slips and falls to the ground, and the giant candy cane that has replaced his tail gets caught on an ambulance's bumper, causing him to get dragged along and scraped across the asphalt. He finally dies when the ambulance drives over a spiked speed bump. For extra irony and karma points, he slips on the gumballs from the gumball machine he broke earlier in the episode, and the reason the ambulance is there to begin with is because Cub had his face torn off, which Nutty was also indirectly responsible for.
  • Desperate Object Catch: Nutty tries to do this with the lollipop after it's sent flying by Pop pulling it off Cub's face. Unfortunately for him, he fails and it falls off a cliff, out of reach.
  • Eye Scream: After getting patched up from glass shards in the face, there's a stitch in Nutty's right eye.
  • Falling-in-Love Montage: Nutty has one every time he falls in love with a new piece of candy, increasing in complexity every time.
  • Fantasy Sequence: Every time Nutty sees candy, he imagines falling in love with it. Most of Part Two is a vividly detailed fantasy of married life with a box of chocolates.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: When Nutty eats a handful of gumballs and glass shards, the viewer gets a nice close-up on his mouth as the glass shards cut his gums and chip his teeth.
  • Grow Old with Me: Nutty's dream scenario goes as far as growing old with the box of chocolates.
  • Heart Symbol: Part 1 is concluded with a heart-shaped Iris Out after Nutty spots and falls in love with the box of chocolates.
  • Institutional Apparel: Nutty is shown in the old-fashioned black-and-white prisoner garb after his off-screen attempt to get revenge for Lumpy eating his chocolate box wife gets him arrested.
  • Match Cut: When Nutty decides to kill Lumpy for whatever he did with the chocolate box, there's a shot of him glaring at the camera, which then cuts to him looking at the camera in surprise in prison.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Implied Trope. In his extended fantasy sequence, Nutty catches Lumpy eating his chocolate box wife, which may be the equivalent of her cheating on him considering Lumpy's dressed as a milkman. After Nutty finds out about the possibly-affair, the scene cuts to him in prison, implying that he murdered (or tried to murder) Lumpy for it.
  • Papa Bear: Nutty stealing candy from Cub? Pop will have none of that.
  • Roundabout Shot: Nutty's first two fantasy sequences both have one where he's spinning around romantically with the lollipop and gumball machine, respectively, he's fallen in love with.
  • Seriously Scruffy: After Nutty finds out that Lumpy has been eating from his chocolate box wife, the scene cuts to him with stubble glaring at pictures of the act, implying that he's been planning revenge for quite some time. After he takes said revenge off-screen, he ends up in prison as a result, and the stubble remains during his incarceration.
  • Tear Your Face Off: Pop tries to remove the lollipop stuck to Cub's face, but it ends up tearing his face off.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Nutty dies. He also imagines killing Lumpy, but this doesn't count since it's only implied and in Nutty's head.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Pop, Cub, and the Mole survive. Lumpy also survives since Nutty didn't actually kill him.
  • The Tooth Hurts: Nutty gets so desperate for candy that he breaks a gumball machine. He eats the gumballs from the ground along with shattered glass shards. The viewer gets a real good closeup of what's going on with his dentures.
  • Yawn and Reach: Nutty does this with the gumball machine he's on a date with in his second fantasy sequence. Then he fondles its coin knob.
