"It's balls to the wall action, Jeice, and these crews couldn't be more motley!"

It's one HFIL of a match as Cell and Freeza go head-to-head in this ballin' episode!

  • Armor-Piercing Response: When Cell reveals that Vegeta's son is the one who killed him, Freeza says that no one will believe it, to which Cell responds, "Why not? You do."
  • Beat It by Compulsion: Dodoria gets Zarbon to let loose an innuendo by placing the ball in her mouth. She then fires it Breath Weapon style at his groin when he is distracted.
  • Break the Haughty: After winning the dodgeball match against Freeza, Cell reveals he knows that it was Vegeta's kid that killed him, and confidently confirms he won't be letting Freeza get the best of him anytime soon, much to Freeza's intense outrage.
  • Break Them by Talking: Cell gives an amazing one to Freeza after the dodgeball match when he reveals who Trunks is.
Freeza: Fine. If you're here to gloat then just get it over with, and if you're going to tell them that I wasn't killed by Goku, I frankly don't care. Whoever killed me couldn't possibly be more embarrassing than Goku's tween offspring.
Cell: Well there's always Vegeta's teen offspring.
Freeza: Well yes, I do suppose that would be- *Beat* (Changes his expression from one of nonchalance and amusement to one of shock and horror, suddenly realising what Cell was implying) No...
Cell: Who do you think that time traveler was? And I'm sure everyone would love to hear how you were split in two by Vegeta's overgrown sperm!
Freeza: (So angry his eyes are shaking) Y-Y-You're lying...!
Cell: Freeza... I've literally never lied.
    Freeza: ...They won't believe you!
    Cell: Why not? You do.
    Freeza: ...!!!
Cell: Suuuure, maybe they won't at first. But today you lost that match. Their loyalty is already waning. Sooner or later doubt will set in and everything you have here in this miserable literal hellhole will crumble away and all you'll be left with is two German ogres and a whole afterlife of shame!
    Freeza: I... you... wretched...!!!
  • Call-Back:
    • Once again, Jeice and Burter provide announcer commentary.
    • When Recoome throws the ball near the start of the game, a very brief close-up of Cell watching the attack fly towards him is used while he goes "Oh shit!", reminiscent of the moment he was nearly hit by Vegeta's Final Flash, complete with similar lighting.
    • Freeza once again attempts to perform a With My Hands Tied boast to Cell with his hands behind his back, only able to use his tail and legs. Only this time though, he's much more successful as he manages to feint Cell so he can land a direct hit on Raditz, and pulls off a Death Ball-styled attack in a feint so he could kick it at Cell to eliminate him.
    • The manner both Raditz, Recoome, and Dodoria are eliminated bring to mind how they originally died (or knocked out before death in Recoome's case) in canon.
    • Cell once again falls for feinted super move from his opponent, responding with "crap baskets".
  • Celebrity Paradox: The notepad in front of Jeice and Burter during their commentary have a Team Four Star logo, who are the ones who make HFIL.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Freeza hits Raditz, only for the ball to ricochet and take out Dodoria, which is ruled as a double elimination because it didn't bounce. This ends up costing both Freeza and Cell when the same event results from the ball springing from Guru's gut.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Raditz brings up to Cell that this whole event could have been avoided had he not angered Freeza during the previous episode. Cell not only shows no remorse, but gladly would do it again.
  • *Crack!* "Ow, My Back!": This happens to Goz during the failed attempt to lift Guru for the victory chant.
  • Cruel Mercy: Cell could out Freeza's embarrassing death to his underlings, thereby undermining his leadership, but chooses not to because it won't get him anywhere and the fact that Cell can do it but won't enrages Freeza even more than if he actually had.
  • Dark Horse Victory: The ultimate winner of the match, rather than Cell or Freeza, is actually Guru, since Freeza and Cell are both taken out by the same ball that was launched from Guru's fat belly.
  • Delayed "Oh, Crap!": After the match has concluded, Freeza tells Cell that he doesn't care if he tells the others that Goku wasn't the one to kill him… that is, until Cell tells him the truth about who Trunks really was.
Freeza: Whoever killed me couldn't possibly be more embarrassing than Goku's tween offspring.
Cell: Well, there's always Vegeta's teen offspring.
Freeza: (Smiling) Yes, well, I do suppose that would be—(Realization hits)—...no…
  • Dodgeball Is Hell: The entire premise of the episode is that they are literally playing dodgeball in hell, and it's every bit as brutal as you'd expect from this motley crew.
  • The Dog Bites Back: When Guldo is tired of being talked down to by Freeza, despite all his help, he allows himself to be eliminated from the game, putting Freeza in an even worse position.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Freeza notes that he can't kill his minions for failing him in dodgeball, but what he will do will make them wish he could.
  • Groin Attack: Dodoria delivers a vicious one to Zarbon in the style of a Breath Weapon that hits so hard, it knocks him out of his monstrous form.
  • I Know You Know I Know: This is basically Freeza's train of thought when picking his first teammate. The most obvious choice is Dodoria, but he knows Cell would just counter by picking Zarbon. He then thinks that maybe Cell would expect him to pick Dodoria and briefly considers someone else, but decides the most surprising thing he could do is go with the least surprising choice. Of course Cell just picks Zarbon immediately afterwards, rendering this All for Nothing, especially when Freeza lashes out and strikes Guldo in anger, which according to the rules counts as his second choice.
  • Internal Reveal: Cell reveals to Freeza that the mysterious Super Saiyan that killed him was actually Vegeta's time traveling son from the future. This also serves as a departure from canon, since even after Freeza was revived he never figured out who Trunks was or where he "disappeared" to.
  • Kevlard: Guru is so fat that the dodgeball gets stuck in his gut when Freeza throws it at him, earning Cell a chance to put someone back in. When it comes undone, it takes Freeza and Cell out, making Guru the sole winner.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: It's a dodgeball game starring the villains of Dragon Ball Z Abridged. It's going to be over the top. Special mention goes to characters recreating various special attacks of theirs.
  • Mundane Utility: Freeza and Guldo use their telekinesis and Time Stop for advantages in dodgeball.
  • Running Gag: The Jockstrap Incident is brought back after Dodoria gets eliminated, and this time Freeza mentions there was a big red ball involved.
  • Shout-Out: The description for the teams in the play-by-play references Mötley Crüe.
  • Skyward Scream: Freeza lets one out at the end of the episode after Cell manages to win one over him and get into his head.
  • Stunned Silence: In the immediate aftermath of Dodoria's brutal Groin Attack on Zarbon, Jeice can only stare in open-mouth shock while Burter continues to commentate.
  • Team Killer: A nonlethal example, as Freeza unintentionally eliminates Dodoria after the ball rebounded from hitting Raditz. And at the game's end, Guru ends up unintentionally doing this as well after eliminating Freeza, taking down a newly brought in Cell in the process.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Raditz isn't treated as much of a joke here as in Dragon Ball Z Abridged. For starters, he wasn't picked last for dodgeball.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Guru is the last player on the field by the end of the game, and therefore the final overall winner. He didn't do anything through the whole game besides sit in his chair. Even catching the ball wasn't really anything since it was caught by his fat belly, and Cell accidentally launched it forward by hitting him on the back in celebration.

Freeza Learns About His Killer

Loosing a dodgeball game was bad enough for Freeza, but a whole new can of worms opened up when Cell smugly reveals who it was that killed him... or rather who the killer's father is.

How well does it match the trope?
