Good night.

0:03. Zimmy walks into a courtyard as a Tic-Toc bird watches. Annie and Gamma watch too, from the doorway. There's a cut on Annie's cheek, and it's bleeding. Annie asks Gamma a question, and she replies (all in Polish). Zimmy breaks a branch off of a tree and throws it at the Tic-Toc, and it flies away

9:21. Annie and Kat are in the library. Kat fans herself with a book, complaining about the heat. Zimmy and Gamma appear, and Zimmy says that the heat and humidity mean there will be a storm later. Kat asks them what they want. Zimmy tells "Nose" it's none of her business, and she needs to talk to Annie. Kat, irate at being insulted, calls Zimmy a "butt", causing Gamma to laugh at the word, before she abruptly passes out. Annie asks if she's okay, and Zimmy asks Annie for her help, because Gamma needs to sleep.

11403:20. Zimmy walks down a dark alleyway, and her head is full of static. Gamma appears at the end. Zimmy turns and walks toward her, and the static decreases.

8:10. Back in the library, Gamma's sleeping on a mattress and pillow that Kat fetched, and Zimmy admits to Annie that it was decent of Kat to do so. Annie tells Zimmy that Kat's a good person, and she might know that if she wasn't so hostile towards her. Annie then asks why Gamma is always so tired. Zimmy explains that Gamma's trying to keep up with her, and Zimmy doesn't sleep. Ever.

10107:12. In the city, Zimmy, panicked, tells Gamma not to fall asleep now, because they were almost at the library. A spider-monster crawls out of a wall, and Zimmy yells at it to go away, and (telepathically) yells at Gamma to wake up.

6:02. The library. Zimmy tells Annie that bad stuff happen when she's around, and Gamma helps keep it away. She compares it to a radio, in that while Gamma's nearby she can stay tuned, and when she isn't, it's all static. But it doesn't work when Gamma's asleep. Annie has a similar effect, but she's not as effective. Annie asks what kind of "stuff" happens, and Zimmy tells her she sees things that aren't supposed to be there, and when it gets bad, things change in reality. Zimmy notices a cut on Annie's cheek, but as she reaches for it, it vanishes. Zimmy really wants that storm to come.

9384:38. A monster approaches Zimmy in an alley, and she bares her teeth. Gamma puts her hand on Zimmy's shoulder, and the monster vanishes. Zimmy asks Gamma how she does that, but she doesn't know.

Zimmy's in the library, but in her old clothes. Then she's in the alley, and a pair of men in dark suits approach. She tells them she's not going back to school. They tell her that it isn't like her old schools, and that Gamma can come too. Gamma asks her what they're saying.

0:06. Annie puts her hand on Zimmy's shoulder, and the alley vanishes. Zimmy yells that that event already happened. Gamma wakes up, and tells Annie that they have to go outside, as the storm is about to break.

0:04. Gamma, Zimmy and Annie enter the courtyard. Gamma leaves Zimmy in the centre, kissing her on the forehead before she and Annie retreat back to the entrance. We see the scene from the beginning, only now we know what Annie and Gamma are saying: Annie asks if Gamma is feeling better, and she responds in the affirmative. Annie asks why Zimmy threw the stick at the Tic-Toc bird, and Gamma explains that Zimmy can feel the "Thousand Eyes", as she calls them, watching her, and she doesn't like it.

Finally, with a crack of thunder, the heavens open and the downpour begins. Zimmy smiles. She laughs, and kicks off her shoes, and sits in the rain. The black gunk gets washed out of her eyes, revealing them to be red. Gamma tells Annie that Zimmy says thanks for her help. Annie isn't sure she understands.

Tropes:

  • Anachronic Order: The chapter switches back and forth between before Gamma and Zimmy came to the Court, and the day of the storm. The boxes showing the length of time before the storm begins help place the events in order.
  • Call-Back:
    • The cut Annie got from the ghost swordswoman in "Broken Glass and Other Things" reappears, hinted to be because of Zimmy's powers.
    • A Tic-Toc bird appears.
  • Curse Cut Short: As mentioned below, Zimmy shouting at the sky to rain.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Zimmy is hostile towards Kat.
    • In the bonus page, Zimmy suggests to Gamma that they go chase spiders in the library.
  • I Know You're Watching Me: Zimmy dislikes the Tic-Toc birds because she feels them watching her.
  • Language Barrier: Gamma only speaks Polish, so she can't talk to most people at the Court. She can only communicate with Zimmy via their psychic link.
  • Psychic Link: Zimmy and Gamma have one, and it's the only way they can communicate.
  • Reality Warper: Zimmy is revealed to be one, but she has no control over it without Gamma.
  • Redemption in the Rain: The rain gives Zimmy a respite from her uncontrolled reality warping.
  • The Sleepless: Zimmy doesn't have to sleep. This is why Gamma's always tired.
  • Sound-Effect Bleep: Zimmy's shout for it to "Rain, you bastards!" is censored by the onomatopoeia for a thunderclap.
