Before Shu can join Funeral Parlor, Gai decides to have Ayase train him to become a member. Along the way, Shu learns a shocking revelation from Inori and finds himself troubled by Gai's relationship with her.
Tropes in this episode:
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Ayase has misgivings towards Shu and only trains him on Gai's orders. By the end of this episode, however, she becomes more understanding of him, especially when Shu expresses his feelings about girls.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Ayase's attitude towards her disability when Shu tries to pity her. She ends up knocking him down in response.
- Heroic BSoD: Shu goes through a brief one when he learns that Inori is being used by Gai. He gets better later on thanks to Ayase snapping him out of it.
- Idiosyncratic Wipes: Ayase's slap causes the screen to go black and cuts to Shu beginning his Training from Hell.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": Funeral Parlor are collectively shocked out of their wits when they learn that Gai's team gets shot down by the Leukocyte.
- Oh, Crap!:
- Shu gets utterly shocked when Ayase opens the door while he covers himself with his blanket. Ayase gets one of her own seconds later when she sees him naked.
- Shu has a moment of terror when he learns about Inori's relationship with Gai.
- Steel Ear Drums: In the training montage, Shu fires his guns during target practice and everyone can still hear very good.
- Training from Hell: Shu goes through very intense training in order to join Funeral Parlor.
