Becoming the Mask at its finest.

Give a man a mask and he will show you his true face.

A down on his luck Luchador receives a special mask that will make him the star he's always wanted to be. Misuse, however, leads to terrible consequences.

Meanwhile, Eve believes something is amiss with Dixon's assassination, and starts investigating Rachel.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Becoming the Mask: Very literally in this case as a cursed lucha mask turns Goyo into a feral minded fighter.
  • Bullying the Dragon: Or Blutbad. Monroe recognizes Benito's victim as a Balam named Patrick, whom he saw while repairing a clock tower. Patrick would harass Monroe for no good reason other than his own amusement, at which point Monroe woged at him to get him to back off.
  • Cat Folk: Benito makes a mask from the woged face of a Balam named Patrick. Goyo in turn uses the mask as "El Tigre Feroz," a cat-based luchador.
  • Foreshadowing: Monroe and Rosalee discuss Aaron and Moses's staffs and the magical properties they had at one point. A magical staff does become important next season.
  • Call-Back: Like Renard, Eve realises that Rachel Wood glanced at the sniper's location moments before Andrew Dixon was shot.
  • Deal with the Devil: The contract Benito has Goyo sign to get his new mask has the trappings of one, complete with a contract that must be signed in blood by both the buyer and the mask-maker. That being said, Benito warns Goyo multiple times about the dangers of the contract, and of the mask he makes, clearly knowing that the young luchador is hotheaded enough to act before he thinks.
  • Masked Luchador: Part of the episode takes place in a lucha libre wrestling federation.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Goyo realizes what he did while he was under the mask's influence.
  • The Needs of the Many: Defending Dixon's assassination, Rachel Wood tells Renard that Black Claw's plan is bigger than one man.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Tear Off Your Face: We get a good look at the episode's AntiVillain cutting off a Wesen's face, as well as the horrible aftermath!
