Trubel is a Combat Pragmatist.

Stars, hide your fires; let not light see my black and deep desires.

After Nick has a bizarre, unsettling vision, he and Hank find themselves on a case that takes them into the world of boxing.

Trubel finds herself under the watchful eye of Agent Chavez before jumping into the ring to help with Nick's investigation.

Meanwhile, Monroe and Rosalee get some unexpected help in figuring out a way to restore Nick's Grimm abilities.

Elsewhere, Adalind encounters a mysterious visitor in her dungeon cell.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bullying a Dragon: Heftigauroch are naturally peaceful, so getting them to fight takes extreme measures. Stan the promoter hires some guys to hit Clay with sticks to get him going.
  • Doing In the Wizard: Nick's retinal scan reveals that he has a section of retina with extra cones (implicitly the source of his Grimm senses), but that light is being blocked to that section by a swelling.
  • Foreshadowing: The doctor Nick sees reveals that he has some neurological anomalies as well as an extra type of cone in his retinas. This suggests that all the Grimm stuff is still there, just deactivated.
  • My Beloved Smother: Clay's mother wants him to become a boxing champion to provide for her, and doesn't much care what he wants. When he tells her he wants to stop fighting, she hits him with sticks herself to make him woge. She's only stopped when he takes a stick to his own arm, breaking it and ruining his career.
  • Nebulous Evil Organisation: Agent Chavez' employers (besides the FBI), or so she makes them sound.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The episode features an African American boxer named Clay.
    • He's also a bull-type Wesen called a Heftigauroch. Nick takes the opportunity for a Raging Bull gag.
