Nick has something in his eyes.
"Now we've got eyes - eyes - a beautiful pair of children's eyes", he whispered.
People are being targeted by a Wesen that feeds on their tears and blinds them with parasites. Cornering the suspect, Nick is blasted with the parasites, leaving him blind as the team search for a way to help him.
Meanwhile, Juliette is plagued by hallucinations as her memories begin to return.
This episode provides examples of:
- Badass Normal: Casey, sister of the second victim. When she's attacked by the same Wesen who blinded her sister, she has the presence of mind to cover her eyes, buying herself enough time for the Big Damn Heroes to arrive. She also kills the Wesen with a kitchen knife as he runs away from the gang.
- Brain Bleach: Everything about the Monster of the Week. After reading out some of the Grimm Diaries' entry on them, Monroe asks if anyone else can take over.
- Disability Superpower: A blinded Nick develops superhearing to compensate. First he can identify Rosalee by her footsteps, then hear both sides of a phone call from a room away. Finally, he tracks the Wesen through the house by listening and beats him in a fight despite still being blind. After his vision is restored, he still has the enhanced hearing.
- Exact Words: Rosalee, when Juliette asks her about the potion she took and what kind of spice shop she's running. Rosalee says she treats maladies that "don't respond to traditional remedies."
- Eye Scream: Everyone who gets a faceful of parasite, Nick included. A microscopic view of the parasite shows that their bodies are barbed. But especially the victim who ends up in hospital, whose eyes are literally eaten to nothing by the parasite. The paste that cures Nick is made from the Wesen's eye, which Monroe scoops out with a spoon.
- Irony: Nick is blind, while Juliette is seeing things that aren't there.
- Sanity Slippage: Juliette is hallucinating after taking the potion last episode, and it's really starting to freak her out. This time she chases a smoke-like figure around the house. She goes to Rosalee for help, and pretty much tells her she thinks she's just crazy.
- Shout-Out: A blinded hero develops superhearing to compensate.
- Wham Shot: The will o' the wisp Juliette's been seeing all episode finally resolves itself... into a ghostlike form of Nick.
- Wait Here: After being blinded, Nick is obviously benched. Hank tells him to wait in the car with Rosalee while he and Monroe get the Wesen so they can make the potion to save Nick's eyes. The Wesen gives them the slip, but Nick is able to track him by sound.
