Hank sees more than is good for him.

He stripped off his skin and tossed it into the fire and he was in human form again.

After Juliette stumbles upon a brutal murder, Nick learns the suspect, a friend of Monroe, is suffering from a strange affliction: the inability to completely return to human form.

This mysterious condition leads them to a therapist who’s created an artificial drug to suppress the Wesen side, with horrifying side effects.

Meanwhile, the investigation takes a surprising turn when Hank sees something he can't quite explain.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: Monroe states that Thoreau, Emerson, and (Edward) Abbey were Wildermann.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Wildermann are the source of the Bigfoot myths. They're actually a peaceful people, when they're not using experimental drugs to change their nature.
  • Break Them by Talking: The therapist tries to distract Nick by asking him personal questions and trying to find his weak points. Nick doesn't rise, refusing to let himself be drawn off-topic.
Dr Brinkerhoff: I would love to talk to you about your identity issues sometime.
    Nick: Thanks, I'm good.
Dr Brinkerhoff: Are you? You can only walk in darkness so long. Sooner or later the inner man emerges for all to see. It's never a question of if, only when.
  • Call-Back: One of the first things we see Monroe doing in the Pilot is "marking his territory" against the side of his house. In "Big Feet" this actually causes the police dogs tracking his friend to be thrown off the trail.
  • Fairy Tale: About Big Foot but not really. It's more like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, although the official website states that it was based off the story of Hans the Hedgehog.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: With Larry dead, Renard gives a statement to the press that the danger is over. Cut to the next Wildermann going crazy and attacking people.
  • Professor Guinea Pig: The Psycho Psychologist is using experimental drugs on Wildermann who want to control their wilder natures, including himself.
  • Shout-Out: The opening, with three young people making a documentary of themselves investigating a local legend in the woods and being killed, echoes The Blair Witch Project.
  • Wham Shot: Hank has seen Monroe's Woge face. Just as Monroe predicted, it's clearly affected him even as Nick tries to wave it off.
