Tropes

  • Absence of Evidence: When Manamel fought back her assailant, which is presumed to be Tikoh, she and Vegalta notice that the wound inflicted on her doesn't show signs of bloodshed. This is one of the major key points pointing to the traitor in the crew.
  • Book Ends: One of the first scenes is a flashback of Cupitan and Trisette's past of their murder. The last scene of the event reveals that the man they killed is not some random dude but Ferdinand himself.
  • Brutal Honesty: Unlike everyone else that appeal to her fantasies, Manamel is the first person that tells Cupitan that her love for Trisette is half-hearted, which would eventually cause the latter to confront her instead of avoiding them.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Lavirita knows how he's going to die and the motive behind it. Instead of trying to escape from that fate, he instead gives the crew his one Last Request.
  • Faking Amnesia:
    • For the first third of the event, Ragazzo states that he has amnesia, causing the crew to socialize with him and trying to avoid bring up any topics related to his past. He eventually reveals that he faked the whole thing to Fiorito.
    • Troue's curse is not the frequency of his amnesia, but rather his second personality that's more ruthless with his goals.
  • Internal Reveal: After Ragazzo admits that he's been faking his amnesia the whole time, Fiorito subsequently comes clean about her role in the Navis and severing her ties with them to the crew. The crew gave her no ill wills over this.
  • Last Request: Seeing his death fore coming, Lavirita tells the crew to give half of his money to his executioner, Fiorito, and the other half to his family's grave.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Double subverted. After revealing his amnesia was all fake, Ragazzo states that he's going back to the Navis despite being duped by Ferdinand... just so he can get close and attack him when he's not paying attention.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: At various moments, the crew notice that Troue seems to remember info more than a day like Cupitan's Accordant powers and his knowledge of Othello, causing them to out him as the traitor.
  • Power at a Price: Being an Accordant has its own drawbacks: Feather looses his teeth, Randall gets nosebleeds, and Cupitan gradually loses her vision.
  • Suicide by Pills: Subverted. While Tikoh diagnoses Cupitan's body with death by overdose, she knows that this isn't her but rather a different object taking guise as her.
