Jujutsu Kaisen: Dreamscape Azure

As Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara wait for their teacher for their next mission, Aoi enters the scene talking to Yuji about the video game he's been hooked on recently; a game with the setting of the skies and islands while an airship flying by.

When the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School students wake up from their sleep, they find themselves falling in the sky with the exact description of Aoi's recently hooked game. With Megumi's Nue, the students are no longer in danger of falling to their deaths and find safety at a nearby airship.

Tropes

  • Bait-and-Switch: While the Running Gag with Vyrn being called a lizard continues, Aoi interjects stating that Vyrn isn't a lizard, Vyrn is his rival.
  • Body Horror: Normally averted due to the curses only affecting the minds of the Sky Realm denizens and mainly latching on the skin. One unfortunate victim to this is the Cursed Primal Beast, whose eye and mouth appear in a different area, two tails, two dragon and bird talons, and two hooves.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: First there's sharks, then there's zombies, now the crew has to deal with a zombie shark. That said, the zombie shark is a primal beast fragment taking form due to a curse.
  • Call-Back: The crew recalls many of the past troubles they dealt with at Auguste such as sharks, zombies, and sentient watermelons.
  • Crossover: With Jujutsu Kaisen.
  • Dream Reality Check: After Megumi remembers that Aoi has never mentioned any of the crewmembers' names before being transported to the Sky Realm, he immediately checks if they're in a dream by punching Yuji in the face.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: The crew is unable to do damage against any of the cursed spirits, with only the Jujutsu Sorcerers capable of doing so. Cursed monsters are fair game though.
  • Smashing Watermelons: Defied. While Yuji spent his and Megumi's money on a watermelon for such an event, Nobara calls him out for trying to waste food, causing him to give up on the idea and have everyone eat it normally instead.
  • Unknown Rival: Downplayed. Aoi considers Vyrn as his rival due to being Takada's recent favorite. Vyrn can't ignore this due to Aoi's enthusiasm, yet doesn't understand where this behavior is coming from. When Aoi wants to stay instead of going back home, everyone else appeases him by stating that unresolved rivalries is a common trope to happen.
  • Where It All Began: The source of the curses the crew has to fend off came from the island close to where they found the Jujutsu Sorcerers.
