Alchemist's Desire
At a young age, Mireille is unable to interact much with the outside environment due to her sickness. One point, she stumbles across an alchemy book and dedicated her life in hopes of creating a healthy body.
In the present, Mireille successfuly created an artifical body, yet is surprised that the body is sentient. This causes her to give up her plans and name the new homunculus Risette. As the two are getting used to their new life, they stumble across a fight with a girl having sufficient advanced alchemy.
Tropes
- Become a Real Boy: The event ends with Mireille completely abandoning her goal of creating a healthy body and giving Risette a human body of her own.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Mireille is envious that Risette has a much easier time creating friends that it ends up becoming a Berserk Button for her.
- Horror Hunger: At the beginning, Risette showed signs of hunger, yet is ignored due to Mireille's own personal issues. This hunger eventually pushes her into consuming other people.
- I Cannot Self-Terminate: After Risette reverts back to herself one last time, she asks the crew to kill her off before more damage could be done.
- Life Drinker: A homunculus requires its creator's genetic factor to sustain itself, one such method being the creator's own blood.
- Not Me This Time: While the guild is creating a ruckus regarding to research on creating the philosopher's stone, they're not the ones that are doing the kidnappings.
- Stating the Simple Solution: After hearing Mireille's story, Vyrn points out that Cagliostro could just create that healthy body for her. Cagliostro shoots down the idea for two reasons: Mireille only asked for a teacher, and creating a natural body like she wanted requires a complete philosopher's stone.
- Who Wants to Live Forever?: When asked between choosing an immortal yet unnatural body and a natural yet mortal body, Mireille choose the latter since all she wanted was a normal life.
- Your Days Are Numbered: Risette eating too much genetic factor from people that is not Mireille leads to Cagliostro to conclude that she only has a few days left. Not even giving Mireille's blood would help as it's only a stopgap and amount needed for it is at a fatal level.
