Ivy goes on a murderous mission to investigate WayneTech's elusive "Project M". After confronting Bruce about the project, she uses her powers to poison him, sending him into a bizarre nightmare where he encounters familiar faces, as well as a mysterious shadow who claims to be his future self. Meanwhile at Arkham Asylum, the newly-incarcerated Oswald is put through absolute hell by his new cellmate Jerome.

  • Body Horror: Like in the last episode, Ivy uses her powers to kill a man by planting a poisonous seed in his body, which rapidly sprouts vines out of the man's mouth. At the end of the episode, she mixes the Lazarus water with her own blood to create a new type of flower with deadly spores; when she tests the spores on an innocent couple, bundles of flowers start bursting out of their bodies, essentially turning them into human gardens!
  • Cardboard Prison: Jerome has total run of Arkham and could break out at any time. He's just waiting until he's ready.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Selina was fine with joining Ivy in what she thought was a crime spree, but her casual murder is a step too far.
  • Facial Horror:
    • Bruce's nightmare starts with Ra's al Ghul slicing the boy's face off, leaving a pitch-black, red-rimmed hole where his face used to be.
    • It's almost reminiscent of Jerome's own face being cut off; Jerome himself goes through some injuries too when Oswald pulls a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown for his humiliation.
  • Fan Disservice: Ivy gives Bruce a passionate kiss on the mouth to put him under her control. Keep in mind, Bruce is a teenager and Ivy has the body of a full-fledged adult. It's the equivalent of putting an already hungover teen under the influence of drugs.
  • Fighting Your Friend: The GCPD are hypnotized by Ivy, and go after Gordon when he badmouths her. Later, he has to knock out Lucius for the same reason.
  • Forced to Watch: Ivy hypnotizes a man and his family and forces them to freeze in place, then proceeds to kill the guy while his frozen family watches helplessly. Even when she can't move, his wife looks downright horrified.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The figure in Bruce's hallucination is wearing what looks like an ordinary cape with an even edge, but when he leaps down on Bruce in the alley, the edge of the cape is scalloped like a rather familiar one.
  • Future Me Scares Me: It's kind of hard not to be a little scared of your future self when you're Bruce Wayne...
  • Guilt by Association: Ivy poisons Bruce because it's his company that harmed plants and animals. It doesn't matter to her if he's sorry or unaware of it at all. Plus, she likely blames him for losing her parents.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Gordon finally finds out about Ivy's age- and power-ups.
    • Penguin learns that Ed's Riddler persona is active again.
  • Jerkass Realization: Bruce has this after his hallucination trip ends.
  • Mushroom Samba: Bruce goes through an absolutely nightmarish one thanks to Ivy's poison.
  • My Future Self and Me: In his nightmare, Bruce comes face-to-face with a shadowy deep-voiced figure in a cape, who he eventually realizes is his future self. We as an audience, of course, recognize the figure as the one and only Batman.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • During his nightmare, Bruce meets with Jim Gordon, who finally sports his comic book counterpart's mustache. He later encounters Oswald, who is shown wearing the iconic Penguin suit and top hat.
    • The first thing that Jerome does when he meets with Oswald is slap a Joker card on his lunch table. He also wears a pair of white gloves, just like the Clown Prince himself.
    • Bruce's future self bursting into a cloud of bats is an image that's been seen many times in assorted media featuring Batman.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Ivy poisoning Bruce and thus putting him through a nightmarish Mushroom Samba ultimately turns out to be for the better, as it finally causes Bruce to have a My God, What Have I Done? realization that snaps him out of his jerkass behaviour from the last few episodes.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Everything Jerome does to Penguin is designed to make him snap out of his depressed funk. It works.
  • Sadistic Choice: Ivy gives Gordon the choice of going after her or saving Bruce's life. Naturally, he chooses the latter.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Selina leaves Ivy (maybe for good this time) since Ivy is killing people. But Ivy doesn't need her anyway.
  • Something Only They Would Say: It takes being called "billionaire boy" for Bruce to realize this red-headed stranger is Ivy.
  • Villain Team-Up: Jerome wants one with Penguin, who in turn is trying to plot with Ed's re-emergent Riddler persona.
