It’s an afternoon full of surprises when Cory and Chrissy pitch in to help a stressed-out Mama make Papa a special anniversary dinner.
Tropes:
- All for Nothing: It’s revealed that Mama didn’t actually have to stress about putting together a big anniversary celebration for Papa, because their anniversary is actually still a couple months away.
- Brick Joke: The cake that gets stuck to the ceiling when Cory trips later falls on Papa’s head when the family is taking a group picture at the end of the episode.
- Forgotten Anniversary: Mama has completely forgotten about her and Papa’s anniversary and is now scrambling to put together a surprise that’s as nice as the ones he gives her every year.
- Garbage Hideout: While playing hide-and-seek as a way to distract Papa, Chrissy hides in the trash can that’s sitting out on the curb.
- Hide and No Seek: Inverted. Chrissy actually uses this game to distract Papa. She has him count to 100 while she goes off to help Mama finish setting up for the anniversary surprise.
- It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: At the end of the episode, Papa says “Best anniversary ever!”
- Last-Second Photo Failure: The family takes a group photo but at the last second the piece of cake that was stuck to the ceiling falls on Papa’s head as Mama looks on in shock.
- Look Behind You: Cory and Chrissy try to distract Papa for as long as possible to keep him out of the house until Mama finishes her surprise.
- Object Ceiling Cling - In his rush to hide it from Papa, Cory accidentally gets the first slice of cake he gets for the dinner stuck on the ceiling. It later comes falling down on Papa’s head at the end of the episode.
