Go To

When Jim starts having dreams of a beautiful blonde woman, strange things start happening during his waking hours. With Melinda out of town, it falls to Jim to investigate what the new ghost wants. When he finds out the ghost is actually the new face of someone from his past, he and Melinda must help her reach her loved ones to warn them of the consequences of investing too much into your looks.

This episodes provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Eva’s mother may not have meant to abuse her, but she was constantly comparing her daughters to each other, depending on which one was prettier and more successful at the time. She constantly put Eva down when she was a dowdy high school loser, pointing out all her flaws consistently.
  • Beautiful All Along: When she and Jim were in high school, Eva was a plain Jane with dowdy clothes, glasses, and hair in braids. She then went on to become a gorgeous supermodel in high-fashion clothes and impeccable makeup. When she appears in Jim’s dreams, he doesn’t even recognize her until he goes to her funeral and sees her in an old photo.
  • Beauty Is Bad: What Eva was trying to warn her mom and sister. She was so obsessed with becoming more and more beautiful to please her mother, she ended up dying when a plastic surgery procedure, something her agent pushed her into, went wrong. As a ghost, she seeks Jim and Melinda’s help contacting her sister before she gets into the toxic modeling industry.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason Eva appears to Jim is because of a single moment they shared in high school, when she was still a shy wallflower laughed at for her plain looks. Despite being implied to have been popular back then, Jim danced with her at a high school dance and told her she was the most beautiful girl there. That was actually the first time anyone ever made her believe she was attractive. And this was before she became a model.
Eva:. You were the first person who made me feel pretty.
  • Stepford Smiler: On the outside, Eva had it all in her adult years—model looks, a successful career, the admiration of her family. But she confesses that all her success and money only served to make her feel more empty. She even says at the time of her death, she didn’t think of her moments of fame and glory and beauty, but that single dance she and Jim had in high school, when he became the first person to tell her she was pretty.
  • Woobie of the Week: Eva, a fashion model who died when her agent pushed her into a plastic surgery procedure, which went wrong, and now wants to keep her sister away from the toxic industry.
