Recap / Ghost Whisperer S 1 E 17 Demon Child

Go To

Melinda is hired by fashion designer Christine to help clear out her clutter before she moves away, after the tragic death of her son, Daniel. Little does Christine know, Daniel is still in the house, and Melinda must help him get a message to his mother before she leaves the house behind for good.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Death of a Child: Technically, Daniel is thirteen when he dies, which makes him a teenager, but he’s still to young to die.
  • Kids Driving Cars: Deconstructed. You barely spend time with your child because of your busy career, and your child is feeling the sting of neglect. After you break a promise to take him ti a ballgame, he is fed up and tries to drive himself, only to crash. Worst of all, his last words are that he wishes someone else was his mother instead of you.
  • Parental Neglect: Christine doesn’t mean to neglect her son, it’s just that she has a demanding career. Still, she barely spends time with him and constantly breaks promises to him, to the point that Daniel wishes his nanny, Suzanne, who truly cares for him, was his real mother.
  • Parental Substitute: Suzanne, Daniel’s nanny, who was much more involved in Daniel than his busy mother and truly loved him. When Daniel sat dying in the car, his last words were telling her, “I wish you were my mother.”
  • Woobie of the Week: Daniel, who died in a car accident after being neglected by his workaholic mother.
